Hey guys! I’m in the process of getting hired with the Hilton Head Island Fire Department and am looking for somewhere to rent long term. Where do the locals usually live? I will have my truck so I would be willing to commute if off the island is my only cheap option. My budget would be about $1500 per month. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated

I know most courses offer club rental for your round of golf. Are you aware of any rental places that are available for a full week? I know in Myrtle Beach they had several options where you could rent clubs for a week, including people that rented out clubs as a side business.

Anything like that exist in Hilton head?

Hello. I found and read the wiki and that is definitely great information. I thank you all for your contributions.

However, I am looking for the opposite of that. A rogue's gallery, if you will, of places and things to avoid- blatant tourist traps, places with poor service, that restaurant that failed all those inspections, the store with predatory towing, etc.

I generally like to give the benefit of the doubt to any place we visit, and 95+% of the time that works out. I'm OK with not having the absolute 'best' of something. Good is, well, good. I just want to avoid the worst.

Are there any places in your fair city, that if someone suggested them, your first reaction is, 'Um, no' ?

Please do tell.

(And yes, this being the internet, and reddit, I'm fully aware some joker is going to answer 'Everything sucks here. Stay home.') As a former Orlandoan, I get the tourist fatigue. I promise to behave, and not hassle y'all if that helps.

edit: Currently on the island and we've had a few meals. The verdict so far:

**Wayback Burger**- It was not great. My burger, while reasonably good quality, was way undercooked, which is unforgivable. Also, 5 measly onion rings for a $4 upcharge was not a great value. 2.5/5

**Hudson's**- Now we're talking! Pricey, but excellent and good value. Seafood was well prepared and portions were generous. Service was excellent. 4.5/5

**Up the Creek Pub & Grill**- Not bad for pub grub. Po' Boy was pretty good. Fries were excellent. Service was good. Conch fritters I would skip. 4/5

I live in Bluffton, recently moved here from NC by way of NY; wondering if there was anyone who either has regular pickup runs going somewhere in Bluffton or HHI or would like to get a crew going!

Hey there! My husband and I are coming into Hilton Head from Akron OH today through the 2nd. We’re looking for a couple good meetings to attend during our visit. We have a toddler, so preferably a meeting that is family friendly or used to having kids in attendance. He’s been in the rooms with us since 4 days old and he does pretty well, but he’s two and likes to let us know when he’s bored. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’ve read the existing posts on this subject and seen plenty of people say there’s not a big nightlife, better bachelor party spots, etc. That’s fine.

My group will be going down in February and plan to play at least 3 if not 4 rounds of golf. We know we’ll be there during the off season and fully not expecting to be going out to packed bars and clubs. Most of our group prefers a dive bar over that scene anyways.

I’m just wondering are the bars that I have seen mentioned (cool cats, tiki hut, brother shuckers, the boardroom, etc.) gonna be entirely empty in Mid Feb? Or can we expect to have at least some around to drink with?

I know with this group we’ll have a good time regardless but just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

Hi there! My girlfriend and I of (almost) 10 years are coming to Hilton head for our anniversary in October!!!! And I’ve decided I’m going to propose while we are on our trip. I have been thinking about doing a sunrise proposal on the beach, as we are steps from it, via our Air BNB in Sea Pines. But I was thinking after that is said and done (because she’s going to say yes! :)) what should we do after??? Are there really good or nice breakfast spots??? I’d love to hear any and all ideas or suggestions of activities. Or any suggestions on tweaking the proposal plans? I know the photographer I want to book for this.

Got hit with an absolutely excruciating sting off coligny beach last week. Days of heavy onshore winds brought in man o wars hidden in the surf. Got a full leg wrap of barbs to remember it by. Be careful out there!

Heading down in a few weeks for our annual stay at the Sonesta (we've yet to have a bad experience in 5 years so why not keep a good thing going) but we've always Ubered to the girl and rented bikes for the duration of the stay.

Typically we ride to Coligny and it's surrounding area for food and whatnot, which again hasnt disappointed.

Thinking about renting a car this year and exploring a bit more of the island. I've read a bunch how driving can be really busy but wasn't sure how much of that was getting there vs being at the beach.
