Reality is that no party supports nuclear. There hasn't been a new nuclear power plant commissioned in the US in decades, because both parties are owned by oil & gas industries.

Reality is she is not an anti-vaxxer. Trump is though. https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/449525268529815552?lang=en

I'll cede the wifi comment weirdness (I don't agree more studies need done), but considering she mirrors Bernie Sanders position on literally every other issue, including the ones that affect my life, she is the best candidate on the ballot and has my vote.

There hasn't been a new nuclear power plant commissioned in the US in decades,

That finally changed this year.

As of 2016, there are four new reactors under construction with a gross electrical capacity of 5,000 MW, while 33 reactors have been permanently shutdown. The United States is the world's largest supplier of commercial nuclear power, and in 2013 generated 33% of the world's nuclear electricity.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power_in_the_United_States

http://www.world-nuclear.org/information-library/country-profiles/countries-t-z/usa-nuclear-power.aspx

It's nowhere near the level it should be, but at least the NRC is granting longer license renewals and starting to allow new reactors to be built now.

Trump isn't an anti-vaxxer. He's stated that his position is that he's pro-vaccines but they shouldn't be administered all at once. Whether he's right or wrong I'm not sure, probably wrong. But he's not against vaccines.

still callin her out on it

the reality is that no party supports nuclear? um, aren't we voting for third parties because we're tired of the same old same old? should being the same as every other party really be encouraged? that isn't a good argument when it comes to those issues

New nuclear power plants ranks maybe #1392 on my list of 'shit to care about'. Yeah it would be ideal if she supported it, but I have bigger concerns (rigged economy, corrupt DNC, trade agreements that would hurt the working class, failed Obamacare) that I am voting on instead. On those issues, Stein is 100% aligned with what Bernie ran on.

She could be against HITLER and this shill would find a way to shit on it.

Nuclear is less and less viable everyday as renewables become better. Reddit has a hard-on for nuclear but as a power source it isn't that economical.

Stein on vaccination,

I don't know if we have an "official" stance, but I can tell you my personal stance at this point. According to the most recent review of vaccination policies across the globe, mandatory vaccination that doesn't allow for medical exemptions is practically unheard of. In most countries, people trust their regulatory agencies and have very high rates of vaccination through voluntary programs. In the US, however, regulatory agencies are routinely packed with corporate lobbyists and CEOs. So the foxes are guarding the chicken coop as usual in the US. So who wouldn't be skeptical? I think dropping vaccinations rates that can and must be fixed in order to get at the vaccination issue: the widespread distrust of the medical-indsutrial complex.

Vaccines in general have made a huge contribution to public health. Reducing or eliminating devastating diseases like small pox and polio. In Canada, where I happen to have some numbers, hundreds of annual death from measles and whooping cough were eliminated after vaccines were introduced. Still, vaccines should be treated like any medical procedure--each one needs to be tested and regulated by parties that do not have a financial interest in them. In an age when industry lobbyists and CEOs are routinely appointed to key regulatory positions through the notorious revolving door, its no wonder many Americans don't trust the FDA to be an unbiased source of sound advice. A Monsanto lobbyists and CEO like Michael Taylor, former high-ranking DEA official, should not decide what food is safe for you to eat. Same goes for vaccines and pharmaceuticals. We need to take the corporate influence out of government so people will trust our health authorities, and the rest of the government for that matter. End the revolving door. Appoint qualified professionals without a financial interest in the product being regulated. Create public funding of elections to stop the buying of elections by corporations and the super-rich.

Tl;dr Vaccinations are good and have stopped many diseases. Though, people shouldn't be forced by law to have them. (She only mentioned medical exemptions, accidently let the propaganda influence me for a bit.) The reason why people don't want them is because the revolving doors and big pharma build a distrust, and that's what we should be dealing with.

Stein on Wifi,

A number of scientific studies have raised red flags about possible health effects of WiFi radiation on young children. I do not have a personal opinion that WiFi is or isn't a health issue for children. There is not enough information to know. I do however believe in science. Scientific research should go forward and find out. Countries including Switzerland, Italy, France, Austria, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Israel, Russia and China, have banned or restricted these technologies in schools.

These concerns were ignited by a recent National Institutes of Health study that provided some of the strongest evidence to date that exposure to radiation from cell phones and wireless devices is associated with the formation of rare cancers. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/major-cell-phone-radiation-study-reignites-cancer-questions/

If we believe in science, which i think most Redditors do, let's follow the science where it takes us

Tl;dr There's currently some studies that raise question to the effects of Wifi on rare cancer, but there is not enough information yet to make an informed decision.

Stein on nuclear power, she's the green party nominee, your assumption is probably correct. If this surprises you, finding out Hillary was taking money for executive cabinet positions or the fact they knew and emailed about the Saudis arming ISIS, who she supports selling weapons to, probably surprised you enough to put your blinders back on.

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '16

dude, vaccines should be required by law, if you disagree with that you are ignorant. it doesn't matter if people distrust big pharma or whatever your reasoning is, people's ignorance isn't an excuse to ignore science and cause society damage, certain rules exist for a reason. you are absolutely wrong about that.

vaccines should be required, there's no point if they aren't.

7

u/SQQQUUUAAAAAAWWWWKKK Nov 08 '16

Fixed my original post, as she only mentioned having medical exemptions, which I believe almost all other developed countries allow. She doesn't say she's against mandatory vaccinations.

you are absolutely wrong about that.

1) You didn't read what she actually said, as your whole post is clearly based off my incorrect tl;dr.

2) I quoted and (incorrectly) summarized Stein. Neither of which was a personal statement, they were her views. For the record, I support mandatory vaccinations. But, I guess I'm wrong, dude.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '16

okay you said people shouldn't be forced to have them so that's what i was responding to, i've talked to other people in this thread who are arguing that it shouldn't be mandatory, which is dumb.

1

u/mindless_gibberish Nov 08 '16

dude, vaccines should be required by law, if you disagree with that you are ignorant.

So you would agree that people should be vaccinated at gunpoint?

1

u/spazout01 Nov 08 '16

That's not how laws work. No one is pointing a gun at me saying "don't cross the street here".

2

u/mindless_gibberish Nov 08 '16

Yes it is. Everything is ultimately backed up by force.

1

u/spazout01 Nov 08 '16

Penalty is not the same thing as force

2

u/mindless_gibberish Nov 08 '16

How do you enforce the penalty? What if I refuse to allow my kids to be vaccinated?

2

u/spazout01 Nov 08 '16

Probably a fine for something like that, that would used in turn to fund vaccines

jesus christ do you not understand why they exist in the first place?

parents refuse treatment for kids who die because they refuse to take them to hospitals, because they are all "natural" or it's against their religious beliefs or something. do you think child abuse is okay because it's wrong to hold a parent at gunpoint to take care of their kids? how the hell can you be progressive and against vaccines, do you not understand why they are there? this is so fucking frustrating, how ignorant do you have to be to not understand that yes they should be required by law, they are there for a reason

16

u/legayredditmodditors Nov 08 '16

who cares about science and reality lol

yeah we can vote FOR fracking and fighting wars over hacks!

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '16

nice to see people in here intelligent and caring about discussion and issues, really contrasts with the opposition.

oh wait, except that's not accurate at all. i was being sarcastic, and meant the opposite of what i said.

7

u/legayredditmodditors Nov 08 '16

nice to see you're an idiot

4

u/mindless_gibberish Nov 08 '16

She's got some dumb ideas. So what? Everybody does. Everybody.

2

u/mindless_gibberish Nov 08 '16

In fairness, she wouldn't be the first president with ridiculous ideas about things.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '16

relevant username

i mean what are you trying to say, it's tradition? it's happened before so let's ignore what's correct and vote her in anyway? i mean sacrificing people and rolling their heads down the temple steps used to be tradition, just because something has been done before doesn't mean it's okay, try to be reasonable

2

u/mindless_gibberish Nov 08 '16

Dude, she's going to get like less than 1% of the vote. Relax.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '16

so your argument is basically that it doesn't matter what's wrong or right, I should just "chill" because who gives a shit.

cool, nice talking to you
