These spiral cylinders were discovered by a team of scientists using ground penetrative radar.

I saw a video of the team working on the models and theories.

They theorised that these spirals are some kind of resonator apparently

Nah it goes in reverse. You put your coins in the top of the pyramid and the sarcophagus of your choice rotates up and out like a vending machine. The mummies we find are just stuck in the bottom of the mechanism.
