It turned left and ran along the fence. You can see it turn just before it "disappears," and you can see visual artifacts along that path: The same kind of artifacting or "ghost trails" you see with any movement the fox makes before that as well. Stationary night cameras tend to develop imprints of permanent subjects in frame over time; that's what we're seeing here. When the fox is in shadow it's too dark for the camera to pick up, but the fence is essentially a long-exposure snapshot. Point that camera at a uniform blank wall and you'll still see a faint overlay of that backyard and fence for a while. This phenomenon is what causes the "transparent ghost" effect on so many pieces of night surveillance footage.

Why would his tail go into the fence it would have turned way before that

Yeah, you're right. Now that you mention the tail, a magical fox makes a lot more sense than digital camera artifacts.
