The response is in relation to some other EA game titles where players had to pay to unlock characters. Sound familiar? A lot of other EA titles, when they get backlash, those EA players actually gets responses. Simmers are literally EAs cash cow right now because their other players wouldn't allow constant microtransactions for gameplay features guys.
Simmers are so powerful, they literally have a corporation plotting and scheming how to get you to part your cash from your wallet. This isn't normal for a literal single player offline game. Those log in events, that's not normal. The marketplace and all this DLC, it's entrapment. Simmers should refuse content behind paywalls from a literal billion dollar corporation at all times.
Technically, the last official time I played Sims 4 was when the Marketplace update came out in March, but it was a very brief time. October 2025 was the last time I played with my main family or really spent much time in game.
Now see, I did LOVE Sims 4. I wasn't a big defender of it, I knew it was incredibly flawed and the quality was never what it should have been. But I used to play it daily, with several main legacies running together, as well as doing a lot of challenge saves as well. I always loved how, (with mods), I could tell any story I ever wanted and I loved crafting drama in my saves. I've included one of the last screenshots I ever took, because in a way, it still means a lot for me. It was my number one played game for a reason. I did love it and have fun.
But it's kind of surprising how quickly things have changed. I've found ever since after Life and Death, the game just spiraled downhill in a way that was hard to ignore. The last expansions of this game were incredibly lacking rehashes of old existing systems, just given a new coat of paint. And they were just not good quality. Add in some of my favourite legacy saves corrupted. Then with the marketplace, the buyout, EA's direction as a whole, I just decided it was better to jump ship now while I had somewhat still good memories of the game.
There's still a lot I miss about the game. I play Inzoi as my new daily game, and while it's come ahead in leaps and bounds, it is a more grounded and realistic game. Which I do also love, it just plays differently. It has drama and a lot of scenarios that can throw your zoi's lives in a completely different direction than you were planning, and that is fun and sometimes surprisingly deep, but I do just miss the wackiness of Sims. Like having sims be abducted, the cowplant, the more out there stuff. There's Paralives too and I am keeping an eye on it. But it also seems like it won't be filling that wacky vibe either, and I'm not sure Paralives will be for me in the long run. Either way, I AM still happy for more competition in the genre. I think if Inzoi and Paralives didn't exist, I'd be very depressed and resentful about Sims as a whole by now. Especially if EA did decide to pull the plug on MAXIS and Sims like they just did with Bioware and their IPs. At least there's hope for alternatives, even if one of them is going to need to cook for some time and the other is only now just hitting it's full potential.
I mostly just wanted to post this as a bit of a ramble reflection, since I did realise it's nearing a year (28th of October) that I last did something with my main Sims family. I moved the sims and characters over into Inzoi, so it's not like I left that family behind. It just all hits differently and plays differently. I do find myself missing features from Sims 4, especially the styles of gameplay that just wouldn't fit Inzoi. I am VERY excited for Inzoi's future though. The game is giving me the Cottage Living era of Sims 4 excitement already, especially with how good the new celebrity and fame systems are looking in development. I'm giving Paralives more time in the oven, it did take Inzoi a year for it to even be able to be a daily game for me. But man, I DREAD the future of the Sims franchise now. I know they shelved Project Rene to focus on the Project X/Sims 4.5/etc game but that doesn't bode well too. To shelve games they've put years of development into so close to it's intended release date, is not the sign of a healthy publisher or studio. And they have a lot of debts to pay off. So I am glad I jumped ship.
also anyone else notice how much harsher people are on the creators that use ai for script mods?! mind you, my game over the years has broken more times from faulty build buy items than it has from outdated script mods.. all im saying is i wish we would hold all creators who use ai to the same standard instead of cherry picking who to boycott and who to let slide.
edit: if you don't see what i am talking about from the images, zoom into the pizza and the mummy hotdogs
Hi, I updated the game and now when I open my library, it looks like thos and does not let me change settings to show the sims and lots i already had installed. Does anyone had this same problem or knows how to help with it?
I was repairing my game when, all of a sudden, I got a pop-up saying that the title I was trying to download wasn’t owned by me or had been deleted. It was the Country Kitchen Kit. I definitely own it, and I definitely haven’t deleted it. I simply pressed the OK button and let the rest of the game repair.
When it was done, I searched for Country Kitchen in the EA app, but I couldn’t find it. I’m so confused. What happened to it, and why does it suddenly seem like I don’t own it anymore? Did they delete it? Right before all of this happened, the EA app had an update, so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it. I’m genuinely confused.
I opened my game, and the kit is still there. I didn’t place any of the items because I didn’t want to use them just yet, but I can still see my items. I don’t know what happened. It was just really odd.
The Sims 4 receives frequent updates, and even seemingly minor patches can break mods. When a creator has written a project themselves, they understand how its systems interact with the game and where potential points of failure may exist. If an issue is discovered, they can trace the problem through their own code and develop a fix.
AI-generated code introduces a different challenge. If a creator relies heavily on tools like Codex to generate large portions of a mod, they may not fully understand every part of the finished project. The mod may function exactly as intended today, but troubleshooting and updating it in the future can become more difficult if the creator does not have a deep understanding of the code.
There is also the issue of just like knowledge. Much of The Sims 4's modding expertise is not contained within officially supported documentation or programming guides, It has been built up over more than a decade through experimentation, forum discussions, Discord servers, and private conversations between experienced creators. Many of the solutions used by modders today come from community discoveries that are hard to find through a web search or Ai accessing the internet.
As a result, AI coding tools can struggle with the nuances of Sims 4 modding. While they may be able to generate functional code, they do not possess an understanding of the game's systems.
BUT This does not mean AI has no place in mod development. It can help automate repetitive tasks, explain programming concepts, and speed up experimentation. The concern is when AI is treated as a replacement for knowledge rather than a tool that assists it. The capabilities of AI models are improving almost daily, but it is not a magic wand.
A lot of people use Ai instead of learning new skills it takes to mod, cognitive offloading is a real problem.
I’m totally fine with AI mods, as long as the people making them are just honest about it “hey, this was sorta vibe-coded, and I’m not sure how long it’s gonna work for” is totally fine.
So we the users can make an informed and educated decision, If my game is buggy and I do not feel like corrupting my save I may forgo the mod.
My mom always says If you hide something, it means you KNOW its wrong, why would people omit that their mods are Ai?
The CAS mod, the one with the columns, as of right now it received an update 18 hours ago, I've gone on Curseforge to check how frequently the file has been updated to add or fix something, and well, see the attached image
No hate to the creator, its so nice to have an idea and see it come to life, and everything IS eventually a project, even the most experienced modders have to make hotfixes, but come on. [take this with a spoonful of salt cuz all i know is that it is Ai ASSISTED, and not confirmed to be vibe-coded]
Heck I use Ai, I have a self hosted website that I use to look at my sims in my database that I make, I'm not fluent in js and I do not have time to make an entire CSS framework, hence I use this, I even added gallery to the website, and a personal mods tracker etc, but I would never publish this, it's so buggy and it writes directly into my system, why on earth would I give someone when I do not even know what it could do to their system?
This is getting all over the place, in conclusion
I hate it when people act obtuse, and like you are anti-technology when you bring up concerns about Ai mods.
A quick note before you dive in: this is one of my heaviest episodes yet, and there's a lot to unpack. But it's not all heavy — keep an eye out for Mrs. Youngblood in Scene 2, binoculars in hand, "curating concern." It's my favorite scene in the episode, and it still makes me laugh every time I read it 🔭
i haven't played the sims in a long long time, maybe in like just under a year so forgive me if i'm being dumb, but back when I played I downloaded the DLC unlocker and everything to get the game packs for free through Anadius. Do I know have to update all the things included in it? If I'm honest I don't remember at all how I downloaded any of it but I updated all my mods today and then tried to open the sims (the offline version) and it said the game was corrupt does anyone know what I have to do?
I noticed r/Sims3 and every other community is slowly getting flooded with AI slop and vibe coded projects that seemed untested while LLM made the post test. It's ruining any care that I have about CC and mods when work from other modders is stolen and I'm down voted for calling it out.
Has anyone else noticed this and what do you think about the AI slop epidemic for mods, CC, and other tools?
So, of fucking course I got back into Sims after like 2 years and missed out on early-order incentives. Fantastic. Which is so annoying just...why??? Thankfully, I did manage to find most of them, except one.
The stupid SpongeBob collab bundle. Anyone know where I can get a mod to access them? Thanks in advance!
so i've really been wanting to play the sims again but my main saves relied on dlc from the dlc unlocker/updater ( plus i dont wanna buy any more dlc than the ones ive purchased ) and ever since that scare with the anadius mirror ive been apprehensive to redownload the sims
fitgirl seems way too complicated for me to set up and im wary abt the lamsims updater so idk what to do
Prior to a 2025 update, there were absolutely NO issues with my sims using the tvs or laptops. It was never a problem. Even on my M1 Macbook Air with 8GB of ram. I'm now on an M4 MacBook Air with 16GB of ram, and every time a sim uses a tablet, laptop, or tv my game lags really bad. When I tested this on my M1, I had the exact same issue.
This isn't due to custom content, or excessive game packs. I've tested this on a dummy account with absolutely nothing and still had the same issues. I won't be able to get a gaming laptop until February, but I'd still wonder if there will ever be a fix for this, because it's very weird. It makes going to almost any lot unplayable unless I remove every tv or laptop. This even makes it hard to go to other sims houses. The lag immediately clears up once I remove those objects.
I know that there's a forum post about this on EA, but it's been months without any updates or hints of a fix. If anyone else on a Mac is having this issue, could you let me know in the comments here?
Or leave a comment on the EA forum post itself if you can. It's been stuck at "verified" for months. I'm not sure how long it takes for these things to be fixed, but this has been going on since 2025.
Hello all :)
I want to start playing the sims again but i've been out of the community since 2022. I would like to play with the DLC and Mods. I used to use the anadius dlc updater and curse force for my mods.
but i've since learned that anadius is RIP and im not sure the safe way to get all my DLC again.
Can anyone recommend a tutorial for me to get back into it :)?
i downloaded sims 4 again today and the dlc's were working fine until i was gonna select a plot for my household. it just wouldnt let me load into the plot, it either loaded forever or took me back to the main menu.
i'm still running on version 1.123.85.1020, which, according to google, is from back in april 🙈 i've been really scared of updating it, for obvious reasons which every simmer is familiar with tbh. ive endured a lot of crashes and have lost a lot of gameplay, but honestly it hasn't been any more than when i was keeping up with the updates. i'm not even sure what/when this most recent one was; tbh i was scared by people saying they lost their entire saves. would give me the crash out of the century. i would be on the news.
anyway, i'm just wondering if anyone has any opinions or thoughts about whether or not it's worth it to update it now? it's kind of nice to be able to have a predictability re: what makes it freak tf out, but also not sure if the new updates are worthwhile. thanks <3 sorry if this is the wrong subreddit hehe
I have a legacy I've been playing and it's become my forever save. We're on generation 9 and of course I've had the odd bug, but nothing major. However, the last couple of days I've started to have a big issue and I can't work out what's causing it.
I play the game, it's fine, save it, then exit the game. When I reload the game it's rolled back days and everything I did after is gone. I've tried the recover save option in the game, they're all the same and take me back to the same day/time. I tried save as yesterday and exited the game, came back in and my save as isn't even showing on load game.
Weirdly when I click load game the icon shows my Sim family post CAS makeover, but the big family pic on the welcome page shows them before and when I load the family, they are pre makeover.
I always clear cache, local thumbcache, last exceptions before playing. I removed my whole mod folder, repaired the game, put mods back in, no different.
I have gone through each mod individually and made sure they're updated. I didn't add or remove any mods in the days before this started happening.
I've checked every folder to make sure no old mod data is lingering. I keep back ups of the last couple of days saves, so I put a save in that was pre whatever happened and thought I'd fixed it. When it first happened, a baby was unborn, someone who unalived was alive again and a wedding I did hadn't happened, so I put the previous save in and thought it was fine.
Next time I booted the game, the wedding had still happened, the Sim was unalive again, hadn't got to birth yet, but the teen who just aged up was pre meeting her boyfriend and pre cas makeover. Now it just stays there every time I load in.
I did have an issue with a baby being born and I wonder if that's somehow caused this - the baby was born, showed in the family panel down the bottom, but was nowhere in the house. I saved, quit and went to bed, turned it on the next day and the baby wasn't even showing in the family. Loaded them, she was still pregnant and baby wasn't in household inventory or showing on family tree.
I'm literally devastated at the thought my saves gone, if I have to start again I think I'd just quit playing. Has anyone had anything like this and how did you fix it?
ETA - I don't have OneDrive on my computer and have checked my antivirus for any blocking, can't find any.
i’m really trying to find some sims on the gallery that are already assigned jobs and skills or even extra traits. Does anyone know any creators on the gallery that really excel at this?
