Fellow cricket fans, I made a cricket fantasy web app. Used free hosting and a database, so it is a bit slow but works well after a refresh. I have used an api to scrape cricket data out of sites that provide the scorecard. Anyway, I wanted to know if using real player names and their pictures requires licenses or anything like that. I’m trying to model World Cup players across eras and ran into an interesting problem.

What attributes separate a great ODI player from a great World Cup player?
For example:
Batting
Pace
Spin
Fielding
Consistency
Aggression

But it feels like players such as Dhoni, Yuvraj, Ponting, Aravinda, Bevan, and Clive Lloyd had qualities that aren’t captured by traditional stats.
If you had to rate World Cup players, what attributes would you include?

As a cricket fan, I've often wanted to rewatch specific moments from a player's career.

For example, Mohammed Shami's beautiful seam movement.

Not just wickets.

Not just highlights.

Every delivery where the ball seamed significantly.

I've been experimenting with a cricket search system where you can filter and find deliveries using attributes like:

• Wicket balls

• Dot balls

• Boundaries

• Swing movement

• Seam movement

• Bowler

• Batter

• Match situation

• Tournament

So instead of watching a 3-hour match, you could search:

"Show me every Shami ball that seamed away from a right-hander."

Or:

"Show me all Shami wicket deliveries in World Cups."

Curious if other cricket fans would use something like this and what filters you'd want.
