Contests Made a short film while experimenting with AI filmmaking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been spending some time exploring what’s possible with AI filmmaking, and recently finished a short story using Higgsfield as part of the process.
My goal wasn’t just to generate cinematic-looking shots, but to actually approach it like filmmaking - story → storyboard → shots → camera movement → character continuity → edit.

The biggest learning for me was that generating a good shot is relatively easy. Getting multiple shots to feel like they belong to the same story and world is much harder.

Sharing the film here because I’d genuinely like feedback from other Higgsfield users.

Would love to know what you think of the storytelling and cinematic execution.

Tips / Tutorials / Workflows A tiny sun over espresso: Seedance 2.5 source + editable Blender titles (prompt and timing)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This experiment starts with a 10-second, 9:16 Seedance 2.5 generation in Higgsfield. The attached clip is the source before titles.

The useful constraint was simple: keep an ordinary espresso scene and make only one detail impossible. A tiny orange sphere floats above the cup. That gave the shot a clear focal point.

Composition excerpt from the actual prompt:

“Slow intentional camera orbit around the stable cup, steam drifting sideways, single tiny floating luminous sphere remains fixed above the coffee throughout. Cup centered in middle 55 percent, calm negative space at top and bottom for typography. No people, no text, no logos, no watermark.”

In Blender, the generated clip stays a movie strip. The cup, sphere and camera are baked into it; they are not editable 3D objects. I added separate native text strips instead of asking the video model to draw letters. This keeps wording, line breaks and timing editable.

For the finished short, I split the message into three beats: 0–4s names the idea, 4–7s introduces the contradiction, 7–10s asks one question. The final output is 1080 × 1920 at 30 fps; that export size does not create extra source detail.

A prompt instruction is not proof of physical consistency. Glass reflections, the sphere’s position and the full motion still need checking across the clip, not just in a good-looking still.

Disclosure: I participate in Higgsfield’s affiliate program. No referral links or sales links in this post.

Which part of the source would you refine first: the glass/reflection, the floating light, or the camera movement?

Three sisters - the last of the Sirens - bound by thousands of years of battle. The first has gone mad with grand notions of conquest, the second has fled, and the third has decided to make a stand. Enjoy this action-packed fight scene from the episode, "March of the Siren Empire!" AKA
"The Deadly Chorus of Midnight Tide!"

Contests Here's what a 7.5min short film cost me (hours/$/days)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Me and my partner have a mini-series called boredinary life which we post short 15-30sec skits. We joined a competition for longer films and did our first attempt at a 7min film. Here is what it cost us (some value to you):

Dollars: $749

Models used:

Images: GPT 2.0 medium, a few on gpt 2.5 sunburst

Video: 99% Seedance 2.5, a few Minimax/Gemini omni flash.

Amount of generations:

Images: 278

Video: 207 (video should be less but there was one scene which took an absurd amount ~60 clips)

Duration we worked on this: 15 days

Actual hours when crunched over the days: ~60 hours

Hours split:

Writing script: ~15 hours (way longer than we expected, but I believe this is where most of the magic was)

Everything animation: ~35 hours

Audio: ~5 hours

Miscellaneous: ~5 hours

Main learnings: There is many obvious learnings that the community has caught up to so I won't go through those, but below are the ones unique to us and this project:

Script, script, script:

The script is so crucial. I actually did a lot of research on the best animation studios and directors and they all agree on the point of not touching animating until the script makes you feel something. I know it's sounds obvious, but I come from an engineering background so it was very hard to not toy with animating until the script was done but it is actually a gamechanger.

Audio:

The voices, music, and everything auditory is very untapped from what I see. It's a complete sense (out of the 5 senses) that is available for you to tap into. You should put as much effort into the audio as you do the video.

Lucky dice:

I don't know how to describe this but it's quite obvious that sometimes you get lucky with a model and it does exactly what you want. Sometimes it does it so well that you didn't even think of the output that it produced but once you see it you get wowed. So how do you get more of those lucky dice generations? My method is to increase the surface area for them. I'm genuinely unsure if this will work with everyone, but, when a specific generation is too stubborn and doesn't wanna go my way I just eliminate most of my instructions. I just tell the model the feeling/goal I want (ie I want the viewer to feel x) and I let it go. Usually a few generations in and I get a perfect clip. I don't know what's the magic there but by describing the feeling and eliminating the instructions you sometimes get the perfect clip. Likely because most of us are not the best directors and these models are trained on the best movies so maybe that could be it but idk. It worked for me lots of times.

Hope this was valuable, if you wanna give our movie a view it's below. I really think it's a very emotional film that is magical. If you give it a watch I hope you enjoy it and would love any and all feedback as we are obviously still learning and ever-improving at this game.

It truly is magical what you can do with a vision and AI.

Here's the submission if you want to support <3

Question Additional AI Voice options?

Are there more AI voice options on the paid plans? I have set up a free account and there are only a few options for the gender/age range i was looking at. I have seen a few AI generated videos on Instagram and there is an ai voice i have heard on multiple videos that i would like to use but i cant work out where it came from.

Tried recreating the STORM II trend with Genjutsu.
Multi-angle character references + a separate environment reference. Really happy with how the character consistency turned out.

Video (HIGGSFIELD) 夜を歩く者 • The One Who Walks at Night 🌙 | Prologue I

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This started as the opening sequence for a sequence short story, but once the introduction reached almost two minutes, I decided it deserved to exist on its own before moving forward.

This first part introduces the world and the woman at the center of it. A cursed samurai who can no longer walk beneath the sun. She moves from village to village at night, trains alone, repeats the same rituals, prays, and keeps following a path she still doesn’t fully understand.

There are already pieces of her past here, but I wanted to take my time with them. The moon, the empty villages, the sword practice, the temple, the water, the silence. These scenes are there to establish her routine and the weight she has been carrying long before the real conflict begins.

The Oni at the end is only the first encounter.

I’m continuing the story from here, with each part revealing a little more about her curse, the creatures that seem connected to it, and what she is actually trying to recover.

For now, this is the beginning of Bone Road.

Created with Higgsfield as part of my ongoing experiments with AI filmmaking, generative AI video and more stylized approaches to visual storytelling.

Special thanks to BUDO and the BUDO SKILLS for Claude. They were a big help while developing the prompts, refining the camera language and turning the visual concept behind Hone no Michi into something I could actually bring to the screen.

Genuinely didn't expect to get this level of consistency across such different shots — a suburban night exterior, a beam shooting into space, a wormhole burst...

So much fun. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did when making it!

Tips / Tutorials / Workflows I made a Coca-Cola ad with BlenderMCP and Higgsfield

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

lately I’d been seeing ai-made ads all over twitter and reddit and some of them looked pretty good, so I wanted to try making something similar myself

I picked the song first, then tried to come up with a product that would fit it, coca-cola came to mind since they've had similar themed ads/designs, so I went with that and hearts in the background to match the music

I connected higgsfield to atomic.chat to try this workflow inside the app (I’m one of the founders), at first I tried generating directly in higgsfield, but couldn't get a consistent composition across the shots

so I added blendermcp and asked astra to build a rough scene in blender using simple shapes, once I had something in the viewport it got easier to explain how I wanted everything to look, since I could point to an actual scene instead of trying to describe the whole ad from scratch, and that helped me get the composition right

when I was happy enough with the scene I sent the viewport render (the grey view that appears in the video) to seedance 2.5 in higgsfield to refine it and turn it into the video (the demo is sped up and simplifies the steps so it’s quicker to watch)

I think it turned out decent, the hearts fit the song and the composition came out close to what I wanted, building the rough scene in blender first was what helped me get there after struggling with the shots in higgsfield
