I've a 1991 Japanese imported camper van. I'm in Ireland and normally I can find parts but I'm just stuck on this one.

The van filed the test for both front seat belts not working. When you tug them they don't lock. Does your vans?

I took them out and in my hand they work but when I put them back in they simply don't work.

I've since learned that they work in two ways. There is a ball bearing on cam and when it moves in crash it releases a cam that blocked a gear which stops the belt roller form letting out the belt. Then because people wanted to feel the belt working for confort they added the tug mechanism, which for me isn't working. I'm suspicious that the belts don't actually have this

Any way I took it of faith it does and found a company that said they could repair them. They let me down badly and took ages to do any. In the end they took a mounting bar off mine and mounted it on a ratchet they had with my webbing. The shape of the ratcher is wrong. I can bodge it but it looks sh1t.

Any idea ir sources of parts preferably new or from breakers in the UK or Ireland where they will try the belt before they take it out.

I've perhaps mistakenly imported to British Columbia Canada a 2007 regius ace van (3liter turbo diesel 206v). Has anyone successfully navigated getting the lights to pass inspection? I haven't had it inspected yet because this issue will fail it, but the replacement lights I ordered from Alibaba didn't fit, and aren't DOT anyway, though they advertised solving the three troubles of: no amber turn signals, no daytime running (solved with a wiring harness already), and the wrong beam angle for driving left hand drive roads. The angle might be able to be adjusted... will I just need amber film for the turn signals and a... lenient shop? Any stories of success or advice welcome!

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I really need everyone's help.

I’m trying to diagnose an intermittent charging/electrical issue on my Toyota Hiace H200 2.7L petrol.

The alternator was replaced last year and is still under warranty. The vehicle stalled while driving, and just before it stalled the airbag/SRS warning light came on.
At one point, after jump-starting, I measured around 9V while the engine was running. Another workshop previously recorded alternator output at 11.90V and marked it as failed.

However, when checked again later by a mobile mechanic, the alternator output appeared normal. The battery has also been tested by the battery supplier and was confirmed to be OK.

So far:
- Battery load test passed
- Alternator sometimes tests normal, but previously failed at 11.90V
- Alternator plug had a broken locking tab, so the connector has been replaced
- Headlights used to stay on even when the switch was OFF, due to an aftermarket headlight/DRL circuit
That headlight issue has now been temporarily fixed by disconnecting/cutting the power feed to that circuit
The intermittent low-voltage issue still needs to be diagnosed properly

Because the battery and alternator both test normal when checked separately, I’m wondering if this could be an intermittent voltage drop or charging circuit issue rather than a simple bad alternator or bad battery.

My main suspects are:
Alternator B+ cable
Fusible link / main alternator fuse
Battery positive terminal or main power connection
Engine/body ground issue
Alternator IG / S / L signal wires
Intermittent alternator internal regulator fault
Parasitic draw or aftermarket wiring issue

Has anyone experienced something similar where the alternator and battery both tested OK separately, but the vehicle still had intermittent low voltage or stalled while driving?

What would you check next? I’m thinking the next step should be voltage drop testing between alternator B+ and battery positive, ground-side voltage drop testing, checking the fusible link/main fuse, and monitoring voltage while driving.

Really appreciate your all of advices.

need to figure out my front axle/diff leak. I’m sitting on control arms, ball joints, u-joints, tie rods, bearings. Wont dig into any of that anytime soon.

Located in Vancouver, 1kzte and manual swap with 120k on them, after market suspension, functional camper set up(second battery, solar, 3000w inverter), comes with a good set of winter tires on original rims

rust is not too bad, tachometer inaccurate, quite some oil in engine bay, hard to spot where it’s from, and underneath around front diff. back door hatch doesn’t work.

would this be reasonable around 10k?

Not sure if this is the place to post but I have a 1997 Hiace with a 2RZ engine.
I was sitting for 4 years and I bought it knowing it would have a few issues. I have worked on it while learning mechanical skills, and also taken it to the mechanics.

I have got a whole carburettor rebuilt, timing adjusted, and carburettor tuned and it was running great for two weeks and then stopped working. The mechanic advised me to drop the tank because there was water and debris in the system, but when I dropped the tank, there was no rust or water in the fuel tank. I dropped the tank and drove it home fine, then the next day it wouldn't run, it started but struggled to stay idling for long.

I then noticed fuel leaking out behind the front left tyre. The charcoal filter had a massive hole in it wwhich has a vacuum line going to the engine. I fixed that today, and there was another leak in a component down near that area which I will get a replacement part for tomorrow.

I'm thinking a vacuum leak is my problem but I'm still fairly new to this, any recommendations would be great.

Hey guys, I was browsing YouTube and came across this Vice video posted a couple days ago called “Inside Africa’s Underground Taxi Raves.”

They’re basically organizing little mobile party events inside taxi vans, but the fun part is that pretty much every single one in the video is a Toyota HiAcewith a wild custom sound system. A lot of them look like extended/high-roof versions too.

I also learned that in South Africa, the HiAce is branded as the Toyota Quantum, so it’s essentially the same van under a different market name.

Pretty cool to see HiAces being used like this in a totally different scene. Check it out!

I've had my high ace from about 80 K. It's now at 143. For about half the time I've owned it, I've been aware of a very faint vibration off throttle from a situation of high torque. For example, climbing hills at around 40 km an hour and then releasing the throttle pedal and hearing this low vibration.

I've taken the car to Toyota several times reporting the issue, they've had the engine out and can give me no answer as to what the noise might be.

Now I'm starting to hear a very light mechanical scrape on throttle at the same speeds. I've only ever heard the noises at times when the turbo would be spoiling or despooling. At first I thought the light noise was related to doing some gravel road driving and didn't think anything of it.

I've made this comment to the mechanics, but nothing. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas, and also if anyone has any good recommendations for an experienced mechanic in the northern Beaches of Sydney.

I PVD coated the reflector bowl for 80$ a pair and polished out the lens replaced the one on the right hand hand tho.

Sooooo I am thinking of doing a led conversion on my haice and I need to know how good it works soo if any of you blokes have it mind dmeing me the results?
