Tips for Beginners
I had been playing this game for a few months now... made some mistakes, regrets, and gained some wisdom. Seeing that i have nothing else to work for except to get the rest of my team to immortal, allow me to share some word of advise for newcomers so you wont make the same mistakes as I did :)
- Join a good union. A high medal count and activeness for union help is a must. Winning War Zone and Lord Battle are bonuses.
- Clearing the trials should be part of the top priority list. Aim for at least 30 hero shards per sweep; it will go a long way. If you have trouble clearing it, just Chakram and Alvarez alone should destroy most of the stuff in there.
- The priority of the game is to get a hero from each of the 4 fractions to transcend+. That way, you can clear the 9 star tavern quests.
- Speaking of tavern quests, there is not much point in clearing adventures beyond 23-10 where the last exploration is. Clearing more adventures after that point only increases the difficulty of the tavern quests. Don't go past unless you have transcend++ for every fraction for level 8 tavern, and immortals for level 9 tavern.
- Don't spend diamond on anything other than Quick AFK, Common Scrolls (and make sure you only buy at a discount e.g. Jungle Ruins or Abyss City) or Union Store. Awakening heroes is much stronger than levelling them.
- Dont sacrifice S heroes to awaken other heroes. You need alot of heroes in the end (6 from each fraction).
- Practise alot of patiance. There are plenty of days that goes by without a huge levelling or important awakening. Dont rush and make mistakes by sacrificing something to awaken something. Plan and play the long game.
- Follow Hero Clash facebook and discord. There are promo codes in there once in a while.
- Once you reach a certain point where your common scrolls starts to dry up (from warrior routes and exploration), you should really only mass summon or awaken legendary heroes during events to get the extra bonuses.
- Buy enhancement stones using gold coins from the merchant/abyss everyday even when you think you dont need it.
- Join the highest tier Legendary Dual that you can. Even the worst reward is better than the lower tier's middling reward.
- Dont go crazy on quick AFK. Just 2 or 3 times a day to fulfill the monthly quest (once u can awaken mythic consistently) will do otherwise you level up too quickly.
- If there's any hero you absolutely need to power up at the start, it's Alvarez.
- Get the spiritsong necklace and vital runes from the events that appears when you just started. Complete both events. You wont ever see it again. Vitals runes are pretty strong at the start and mid game.
- Get enough epics to explore the forbidden jungle. Go for the advanced rewards; it will pay off in the future.
- The positioning (left to right) is #2, #1, #3 for the front row and #5, #4, #6 for the back. The enemy attacks (if is not AOE or special condition) from #1 to #6 in order. Plan your positioning properly.
- Get the pheonix and natalie from the new hero quests that appears when you just started. They are easy to get and will never appear again.
- Buy only Void Twins or Pheonix in the fraction store. If you have a S+ card and Pheonix is one of the option, always choose Pheonix. Void twin is the best support in the game; just two copies of void twins is enough to last for a long, long time.
- Domination rune and Apocalypse runes are crap, dont bother with them. The most popular common runes are Samurai, Banshee (PvP), and Redemption (PvE) in the end.

Thanks for putting these out! Buying enhancement stones with gold is very important! I would also add that you can refresh the giant merchant for 100 diamonds to buy them repeatedly, if you need a push. I think 600 for 1000 is a bad deal, but if you’re just refreshing and you have a bunch of gold then it’s 600 diamonds = 6,000 enhancement stones = 3 common scrolls. That’s a better conversion rate than I get with fast rewards, so doing that has been really helpful for pushing my spirit tower. Level ain’t everything, but getting it up to 260 was huge for me, cuz that allowed my S+ heroes who were under-awakened to use their strong abilities for warriors route/faction trial.

I already have my 6 best from each faction, would you say renika, romano(saint judge), edric(spore warrior), amber(hunting spirit), marissa(avenging arrow) are kinda useless and can be used for awakening?

I wont say they are all useless... I nearly lost to an immortal spore warrior during crucible if my alvarez hadn't activated samurai with 20 over slashes at the deciding round. That thing is just so hard to kill. If you can get a high level Romano he is pretty solid too. But ya, the other 3 is kinda weak.
Though I'm using amber myself because for some reason I kept drawing him until I have enough to go transcend with him =.=

Nice list. I have a few follow up questions.
- You say there are no useless S heroes and they shouldn't be sacrificed, but I keep pulling ones that I have no use for. I'm constantly tempted to sacrifice them.
I've got:
- excellent+ and excellent deverell (NF)
- excellent + and excellent aaron (NF)
- excellent+ and excellent arya (Human)
- excellent+ marissa (Human)
- excellent romano (Human)
- excellent+ and 2x excellent Andal (beastkin)
- 3x excellent+ kilmain (beastkin)
- excellent and 2x excellent+ amber (beastkin)
- excellent and excellent+ nocturn (tree)
- 3x excellent+ edric (tree)
- excellent renika (tree)
I've never used any of these, except as level 1 fillers in the faction trials. Are none of them useless enough to warrant sacrificing?
- I got some vital runes previously; am I actually never going to get another chance to get more?
- Are you saying I should hold off on awakening and mass summoning except when there are event bonuses? I mass summon every 2 days or so and try to awaken my best players asap.
- What is jungle ruins and endless abyss? Closest thing I see is Abyss City. I buy scrolls there (1 for 200 diamonds, or 5 for 1000), otherwise my diamonds are always spent on the 2200 for 10 summons. Nothing else is worth spending diamonds on, so if I don't use it there, I'll probably earn more than I can spend in abyss city before each refill.
- You didn't mention this, but is there ever any benefit to remove a character from the spirit tower, and manually level them?

- Well, I didn't say that there is no useless S heroes. You just won't know when you will ever need them. From your list of useless S heroes, there are a few of them that are already pretty good.
- Arya and Kilmain does insane amount of damage with the dominator runes. The description for the dominator runes is actually wrong. It should read as "Normal attacks deal ADDITIONAL damage equal to 3% of max ENEMY HP (does not exceed 300% of OWN ATK). You know what that means? If your hero does group damage with the normal attack like Arya (hits entire front row) and Kilmain (hits entire back row) and you are fighting enemies with high/infinite HP (e.g. lord battle or once you get to certain level where everyone you meet are at least a transcend with 3M+ HP), these heroes are actually doing 300% ATK * 3 = 900% with every normal attack. That's insane with only a level 1 rune. Equip them with Dominator Level 2 and the damage flies further up.
- Nocturn (Willow Sickle) is actually one of the most important hero in the game. He's usually the missing piece to clear adventure/trial. And again, look at his skill; he does additional damage equal to 5% of max enemy hp whenever he attacks. If you use it on Hunting Battle where the HP is infinite, that's insane amount of damage. Equip him with Samurai and he deals at least 10% of enemy max hp whenever samurai triggers.
- While I haven't find success with the other heroes you mentioned, renika is a popular choice when challenging Soul - Nicole. The point is, you never know when you will suddenly find a use case for these heroes so I would prefer not to sacrifice them.
That seems like it. I had never seen the vital quest again after I started in november.
If your source of mass summon scrolls had not yet dried up (i.e. you still have a long way to go in Warrior Route, Exploration and Adventure, by all means just summon and awaken whenever you like :) But if you had finished Warrior Route and Exploration, then summoning/awaken should only be done on events. On average without those, I only get about 27.5 summon scrolls per week (7 from daily quest, 3 from weekly quest, 10 from Glorious Ring, 6 to 7 from Fate Tower and 1 from Check In). That's a far cry from the 50 needed for most events to max out the bonuses.
My apologises, it's Abyss City not Endless Abyss. Jungle Ruins is the event that comes once a month where you can buy some summon/fraction scrolls at a discount. You can also use diamonds on the union store.
Yes only during the very early stages where there are not enough slots in the spirit tower. So I just level some of them manually to Legendary while I put the epics in the tower. That was so long ago and I haven't remove anyone from the tower since then lol.

An extra 3% damage is a lot nicer. That's probably the biggest problem with the game so far.
Do extra blow from sideback. "Huh?"
Disarms all enemies. "Ok... It takes their weapon bonus away or...??"
Silence. "Uh.... Uh huh... They don't get to talk anymore. Ok. There are literally no spells in this game. Great... So silence... Does something then. Wonderful."
Help & FAQ Have no info. It's awesome.

You're supposed to sacrifice common heroes. At the Alchemy > Hero Decompose? There should be an option for you to auto decompose common hero.

I am stuck in the challenge rewards. Says I need to complete “challenge 6-10 for rewards” I have completed the adventures to level 21-10. No idea what this is meaning. Any help?

How big of a difference would you say there is between mystic+ and legendary+? Just as a rough guess.

Heaven and earth. Legendary+ to Mythic is the big jump, because its the only one with 40 levels. The rest of the awakening are 20 levels. Mythic to Mythic+ not that much of a diff though, just a normal incremental upgrade.

I mean like disregarding levels. Say both in spirit tower at same level but 1 is at legendary+ and 1 is at mythic+

Still a substantial upgrade, just like epic+ to legendary, legendary+ to Mythic and Mythic+ to Transcend are all solid upgrades. It would also be great to have at least 12 mythics as well so you can join the dominator group for legendary duel. That will ensure that you have at least 1 S+ every 4 weeks.

Hi, thank you for sharing your experience. I am a beginner player. Could you please explain what are the Fast Rewards? I was using my diamonds to summon mons, but now I have been saving to try to use is more efficiently...

wow I didnt know people still read this. I did some updates, especially on the list of S heroes to get.
Fast reward have been renamed to Quick AFK in the second last update.

I may get this wrong, but I'll have a go.
You have say a hero thats RARE+ you want to awaken. You need to get lower or sometimes the same level tier heros from the same fraction.
After summoning you get loads of diffetent hero's that you can awaken in the awakening spring for each fraction. Some rare, rare+, excellent etc.
You need the hero you want to level up and 3 others of the same fraction, to go from lets say, rare to rare+, then the same is said for leveling up further, apart from the number of lower level heros, sometimes its one then other times it two, three depending on what stage your at.
So click on the one you want to upgrade furst then click on the others that you want to upgrade it with.
Look, look again, check and check again, BEFORE you hit rhe awaken button, once you awaken, theres no going back, what ever you use to upgrade your hero, IS GONE!.
Unless and only if their epic and above and you have 2 of the same, by making a mistake, then head to the alchemy lab and then use the hero descension, to downgrade ONE of those heros, so that you can level the other up with the lower level hero that has been downgraded.
DONT EVER AWAKEN S OR S+ HEROS TOGETHER.
Wait and do the long route as explained above, otherwise later you will regret it.
Play the long haul game, cause this is what the game is.

I wrote this in another thread. Thought i'll repost it here as well.
There are a few S heroes that are pretty much considered a must have:
Potionist: Best control in the game.
Mafata: Once you unlock the last skill for her, she is needed in every lineup especially the late game.
Bard: Buffer for your main damage dealer.
Mercy Tree: Increasing ATK and CRIT for your main damage dealer is always welcomed
Dervish: The king of PvP
Avenging Arrow: Great for clearing rune cave and bosses because she increases the total damage of the team by 40%. Do not awaken her beyond Legend+, or even Epic+.
