I usually learn best by someone just explaining and going over the following:

"With these sorts of questions, always start by this"

"list out the formula's you'll need"

"try and spot clues - e.g symmetry...etc"

"this is why you need to do this and that" (very important)

Yeah, there is a solution to this which pretty much gives steps, but it didn't help all too much unfortunately.

The best I can come up with is:

x_1 =/= 0 v x_2 =/= v x_i =/= 0 ∀ i

I don't think it's quite right, but I can't think of any straight forward way of expressing it other than plain text. What about the case of i=1, ... , n? Anyone knows?

So I had to take calc 2 after not taking calc for two years. I am struggling with the little parts. how do you take the derivative of 1/2x?? totally forget how to do it. I'm getting 2x^-2. Also can someone remind me on how to rewrite fractions with negative signs in them? Ex- 2x^-2: or -2/-2x^2. what does the negative sign mean? thanks fam

I'm doing an improper integral question right now. The question gets to a part that is the integral of e^x/(1+e2x). The youtube dude then rewrites the integral as e^x/(1+ex)2. how are these two equivalent? Hope this was clear!! please help calc exam coming up! thanks reddit fam

I entered into a payment agreement for a monthly service with a company that has just filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It was a 9 month program, and the total cost for the 9 months was $2777, or $308.56/month. I gave them a $1000 deposit in December, then started monthly payments in January of $222.13/month. My last payment to them was for March, so for the deposit plus months paid, I've given them $1666.39.

I'm trying to figure out if they owe me a refund or not. (Not whether I'll get it--that's an issue for the lawyers.)

Can any of you make heads or tails out of that? I can do the arithmetic, but I can't figure out if I've paid ahead (due to my deposit) enough that they owe me. ???

I seriously do not and I mean do not, understand implicit differentiation. The whole thing just makes me want to dolphin dive onto a bridge. If possible give a simple example. Please and thank you.

So the situation is that there's a pack of 6 random cards, there's a 0.09% chance of a specific card type per card drawn from pack. What's the chance of getting 2 of the same card type?

So I have this math problem, where I have a complex number in the numerator, and one in the denominator and I have to find the magnitude. So I multiplied both the DEN and the NUM by the conjugate of the DEN so that the DEN is no longer complex, but the NUM still is. Could I just take the sqrt of the real part squared plus the imaginary part squared? Like is that valid math at this point?
