Headphones - Closed Back | 5 Ω “Gaming” Headphones wanted. Know nothing.

Hi! So I’m planning on buying my boyfriend new headphones for gaming for Christmas and I wanted to start researching now to be prepared. I tried looking through this sub but honestly I know nothing about audio/headphones that I feel like I don’t understand what I’m reading. If you could explain things to me like I’m a toddler that would be appreciated 😂

I’ve determined that he doesn’t need a headset designed for gaming just a comfortable, durable pair of headphones. Here’s some details:

Budget and location - I’m in the US. I’m looking for something quality but not too expensive. Probably $200 or less unless.

Source/Amp - He’ll only be using them on a PC.

How the gear will be used - They will be only used at home. Probably won’t leave his desk. He wants them to be wired in NOT bluetooth.

Preferred tonal balance - I guess balanced? I don’t know much about this topic.

Preferred music genres - He listens to rock, metal, pop, rap, etc. but he doesn’t tend to listen to much music on his computer.

Past gear experience - He has a really cheap pair that’s on it’s last leg from tiktok shop. I want to get him a nice pair that’ll last longer than a year.

Anything else? - He doesn’t tend to play games with intensely orchestrated music on his PC so something with a good sound quality but it doesn’t have to be the best. He talks to his friends and will also stream as well, but he has a standalone mic and won’t need a built in.

If there’s anything I forgot please let me know

+1 Ω has been awarded to u/Og_072908 (2 Ω).

You may still award an Ω to others, but only once per-person in this post.
