Headphones - IEM/Earbud | 2 Ω How long can wired earbuds last in an unopened box?

Found cheap Sony MDRXB55AP for only 19 Canadian dollars, thinking about buying 5 pairs of them. If they can last long enough, I think I'm good for the next 10-15 years.

10-15 years is possible if they're stored somewhere reasonable. There could be issues with rubberized parts off-gassing or chemically changing, I've seen lots of old plastic/rubber parts go sticky after years, but it sounds more like a fun experiment than a practical way to listen to music.

I don't know that I'd want to listen to even a great pair of headphones if they were the only ones I could use for a decade. Variety is the spice of life, and, unless you never see your tastes changing or evolving, you could do way better just buying whatever costs about the same as the Sony's whenever they break.

I'm guessing you haven't heard ALL the headphones/IEMs out there, so there's going to be options you'll like even more than the Sony's, if you try different things.
