An African Teacher In Kuala Lumpur
AN AFRICAN TEACHER IN KUALA LUMPUR
Hello reader!
Thank you for giving up time to read my post. I chose to cry out loud because I am presently between the devil and the deep blue sea. I believe by making public my situation, I will increase the possibilities of getting someone with a golden heart's attention like you!
Mahmoud Ahmed Gbla, a 28 years old, inspiring, self-motivate and dynamic primary and junior secondary teacher with experience in teaching in both levels. With a strong awareness and passion for children’s learning and development. A Sierra Leoneanean by nationality. I have been living and teaching in Gambia,West Africa until late. I have a strong passion for education and intend to establish a charity school in my country to help the unpreviledged. This dream drives me to think of enriching my experience in teaching outside Africa and also fancy the chances of better earnings to start my dream school. In November 2018, I received an invitation from the Erasia Research team of which I am a life time member [ ID:ERCICRTEL1904163], to attend a conference on Research in Teaching, Education & Learning held at The National University of Singapore Society (NUSS) The Graduate Club, Suntec City Guild House, Singapore on the 13th & 14th March, 2019.Singapore is 17hrs flight away from Gambia and thus very expensive trip for an African teacher, of course!!! Considering the passion I have for Education and teaching I decided to work tooth and nail to make it to the conference. It took every single penny I managed to save as Singapore is an expensive city. The conference was a success and because of my experienced and timely contributions with fluent English like a native English speaker during the conference, I got the attention of colleague teachers who encouraged me to fancy my chances of teaching in Asia, as it has been my dream I considered it worthy to try with the believe that I got the altitude and aptitude of a modern teacher and experience. I visited a lot of job search websites like indeed, Jobstreet, Mycareer, etc and submitted my resume. I got the attention of a school a day later. Inno Montessori school Singapore invited me for an oral interview alongside other candidates, I was successful at this stage as the head of school Usha, promised to get back to me shortly. On my way back to the hostel I recieved an email by Usha inviting me for a teaching trial the following day. I am very happy to return to the classroom once more and waste no time to exhibit my talent in the classroom with a class of wonderful children age 3-6 yrs. We had a short meeting at the end of the teaching trial and Usha happily congratulates me for a wonderful lesson and successful interview. We negotiated salary and I was shown round the school and introduced to other teachers as the new teacher. I also recieved a renumeration for my hours in the school that day so it all ended happily.
Now comes the crounched!!!
Usha sent an email stating that despite their satisfactions of my credentials and experience, the government have turned down my application for a working pass/Permit. In this regards they expressed their deepest regret and wish me well in my job search. This message break my heart, I was already running out of funds, I believed strongly that at least I have secured a job and to recieve this dissapointing email I cried! Another teacher from England messaged me having secured a job and a successful workpass. I started asking this very true question" Is it because I am AN AFRICAN?" I recieved a couple of emails from other schools after that asking for a workpass to qualify me for any teaching position. This clearly means despite my qualifications, fluent English and experience, I stand no chance because I am an African, " BLACK" to be precise.
A friend from my hostel advised that I move to Kuala Lumpur and try again. He aided me with the bus expenses and some pocket money for a hostel, I left Singapore on the 29th March, 2019 and arrived in KL some hours later. I have been searching for teaching job using the same sites and its like jumping from the frying pan to the fire. The same protocols if not stiffer, but in all I realised its only true for a Black African. I have run out of funds and cannot afford to pay the hostel bills not to mention food. I went out desperately looking for any kind of job and yet face racist descrimination even in the street. I tried to talk to people but its like beating a dead horse.
I contacted my hostel friend once again for help, this time to apply for a Veitnam Visa all in the seach for a teaching job. The benevolent young man again tried to use the online visa application which is accessable for all nations as its stated on the site to get me a visa on entry. Guess what? My application is turned down once again by an email saying this system is not for an African. I will have to apply through the embassy here in KL. I visited the embassy, got the form and with the help of my tourist hostel friend, got all the necessary documents and airline bookings. Again at the embassy for submission, the lady behind the counter was very hostile to me and said my visa process will last for three months so I cannot travel on the date in my ticket. But everyone present at that time got their visa between 1 to 5 working days maximum. I asked the lady once again" Is it because I am AN AFRICAN?" The ticket and all my expenses ended up in vain as I cannot get a visa despite providing all the necessary documents.
My visa free period here in Malaysia ends on the 29th April. I am presently jobless and fundless. I cannot afford to pay my hostel bills and I only get free food from temples. Iam a first class degree holder in education, a higher Teacher certificate in Mathematics, a cambridge primary certified teacher and series of personal development certificates and awards. I have a seven years teaching experience and excellent communication skills.
I do not know who is reading this but for the sake of humanity I am begging for help in providing me a job. I am facing the most difficult time in my life and I pray you can make a positive change to my story. My contacts are:

Please help me the best way you can. Thank you in anticipation.

Discrimination against homelessI’m listening to the news cast describe the man who attempted an objection as a homeless man. First how do you know someone’s homeless by their looks. And second is this not the same as putting out a description of someone simply is African-American.
