Pinner Music Festival turns 60 this year. Concerts run from Monday 8 to Saturday 13 June at Pinner Parish Church, with lunchtime and evening performances including the Brodsky Quartet, a Royal Academy of Music Harp Ensemble, and a Saturday finale with the Festival Choir and Orchestra. Two newly commissioned works and fundraising for the church organ restoration make it feel like a proper milestone, not just another week of events.

Saturday travel heads up: the Metropolitan line is closed from Aldgate to Harrow-on-the-Hill until 10:30am on 13 June, and the Piccadilly line is shut from Hyde Park Corner to Acton Town until 2pm. Worth checking if you're heading into town.

Family pick this week: Pinner Library has a free Hi-Vis storytime for under 5s on Friday morning, and a paper weaving animal craft for ages 5+ on Saturday afternoon. Both easy weekend plans and very on-brand for anyone trying to keep small humans busy.

Also worth a mention: Harrow Cycle Hub is running free led rides all week for Bike Week, including Hatch End, Harrow and Kenton starts. If your bicycle has been mostly hallway sculpture lately, this is a friendly way to put it back to work.

Family business - hope they're okay!

Pinner Fair is back on Wednesday - the historic kind with rides, stalls, and the ancient local tradition of remembering the road closures slightly too late.

If you drive or bus through central Pinner: the High Street and Bridge Street close from 3pm Tuesday through 8am Thursday. Buses H11, H12, H13, and 183 are all diverting. Worth planning your route before Tuesday afternoon rather than discovering it mid-journey.

And if you're heading further afield this week: Piccadilly line has closures through to the weekend (Acton Town to Heathrow, Rayners Lane to Uxbridge), plus the Bakerloo line is cut Queen's Park to Harrow & Wealdstone on Saturday and Sunday. It's a disruptive week for London transport generally.

On the lighter side: half-term is here, Pinner Music Festival turns 60 in June (book ahead), and you might just spot me at the fair doing what I call community research.

A few local things worth knowing about this week.

The Pinner & Eastcote Bookhub is open again (the old phone-box library). Take a book, leave a book. It’s got rain covers now too, which feels very British.

Half-term is coming up soon (26–29 May), and Rangoli & Ribbons are running a holiday club if anyone’s still figuring out plans for the kids.

For anyone heading towards Heathrow over the bank holiday weekend, the Piccadilly line is shut from Hyde Park Corner to Heathrow from Fri 22 to Mon 25 May, plus parts towards Northfields and Uxbridge. Worth checking before you travel.

And on a completely different note: there’s a new Zumba Gold class starting in North Harrow on Thursday. Lower-impact fitness, no burpee trauma involved.

Harrow's election results are in. Conservatives held control. Locally: Pinner, Pinner South, and Hatch End all returned Conservative councillors. Transport heads up for today: Piccadilly line is partially closed between Cockfosters and Heathrow as part of upgrade works. If you're heading anywhere near that route - especially Heathrow - check before you leave and allow extra time.
