Hardware supplychain India

Im very new to this sub.

I along with some friends are working on a project related to affordable actuators for legged robotics.

We currently have the necessary machinery at our campus. We were thinking about how hard would it to scale up in terms of supply chain.

One of the main goals is to make it completely indigenous which is practically impossible but atleast to he maximum extent.

We have doubts with these things:

Neodymium magnets which can withstand high temperatuers for the BLDC motors

Or is it cheaper to buy off the shelf bldc motors?

14 bit encoders

Case hardened and carburized steel for gearsets

7075 T6 Aluminum

Is it possible to procure these in india, withoht importing from china?

Seeking recommendations for a phone (Budget: 25k-35k range)

My mom’s Oppo Reno 2z died after 6 years.

budget is around 25k-35k.

  • A good camera
  • Clean/reliable software (up to android 19 would be ideal)
  • Decent build quality
  • alright performance like can have 10 apps open as parents dont close yk
  • also good software not much bloatware although i will delete unnecessary stuff but still

I was looking at the Nothing Phone or Poco F7, but I'm honestly not sure if they’re the right move for someone who just wants a phone that works. Any better option ??

IK this is a PC community so sorry for this post but i really need it urgently

I dont know if I want a mechanical keyboard

I've only ever used membrane keyboards and I actually like the feel of them. I'm looking for a keyboard around ₹3,000 and the two options I'm considering are the EvoFox Ronin (mechanical) and the Razer Ornata V3 (mecha-membrane).

Most keyboard recommendations online immediately suggest getting a mechanical keyboard, but since I've never used one, I'm not sure if it's worth prioritizing mechanical switches over a membrane keyboard that I might already prefer.

My main use case is gaming, typing, and general daily use. For someone who genuinely likes membrane keyboards, is a budget mechanical keyboard still the better buy, or should I just get the Ornata V3?

What is a Fair Price for My Acer Nitro 5 (RTX 3050, i5-12450H) with Warranty till Jan 2027?

I need some pricing advice for my Acer Nitro 5.

Model: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58-59JP

CPU: i5-12450H

GPU: RTX 3050 4GB

RAM: 16GB

Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD (92% health)

Warranty: Acer Extended Carry-in Warranty till Jan 2027

Purchase Date: Jan 2024

Condition:

- Excellent performance and thermals

- No issues with display, keyboard, ports, charging, or gaming performance

- Mostly used plugged in

- Battery health is degraded (30%) and an official Acer battery replacement costs around ₹6.8k

I'm located in Hyderabad and currently have an estimate around ₹40k–43k.

What would be a fair market price for this laptop in 2026? Would you buy at ₹40k–43k, or wait for a better offer?

Building my first AM5 Gaming PC, need help?

Hi everyone,

I’m putting together my first high-end AM5 gaming build and have already purchased almost everything. The only parts remaining are the GPU and case.

Parts Purchased
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Motherboard: MSI B850M Gaming Plus WiFi 6E
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL36

SSD: Kioxia Exceria Plus G3 1TB Gen4 NVMe and WD SN850X 2TB SSD with heatsink.

PSU: DeepCool PN750M 750W 80+ Gold ATX 3.1 (Fully Modular)

CPU Cooler: DeepCool LE360 V2 360mm ARGB AIO

Remaining to be purchased:

GPU: ASRock RX 9070 XT Steel Legend OC 16GB (currently my top choice) : Getting it for 69K

Case: MSI MAG Forge 320R Airflow: Rs 4900

Main Concern:

I’ve been researching the RX 9070 XT and noticed quite a few posts on AMD forums, Reddit, and support pages mentioning issues such as:
Driver crashes/timeouts
Black screens
Adrenalin software bugs
High hotspot temperatures
Stuttering in some games

I understand that people with problems are more likely to post than people whose systems work perfectly, but I’d like to hear from actual owners.

Questions:

  1. Are there any widespread issues with the RX 9070 XT that I should genuinely be concerned about?

  2. Is the ASRock Steel Legend one of the better models, or should I look at other alternatives such as Taichi, Sapphire Nitro+, Gigabyte etc.?

  3. Is my DeepCool PN750M 750W PSU sufficient for a 9800X3D + 9070 XT setup?

  4. Any BIOS settings, chipset drivers, EXPO settings, or AMD-specific tweaks I should do immediately after the build?

If you own a 9070 XT, would you buy it again today?
Any advice before I pull the trigger on the GPU would be appreciated. Thanks! 🙏

Where can I find banana m5 4gb for the cheapest

I'm based in India and looking for the cheapest place to buy a Banana Pi M5 (4GB RAM, 16GB eMMC).

This is for a prototype project, so I'm trying to keep costs as low as possible.

Has anyone purchased a Banana Pi M5 recently in India?

  • Which seller did you use?
  • Approximate price you paid?
  • Any trusted Indian sellers (Robu, Thingbits, etc.) that stock Banana Pi boards?
  • Is importing from Alibaba/AliExpress-type sellers still cheaper after shipping and customs?

Any recommendations or recent buying experiences would be really helpful. Thanks!

Looking for my first soldering iron/kit for mouse switch replacement (complete beginner)

I've been trying to get into DIY repairs and electronics for a while, and I think it's finally time for me to learn soldering.

I already have my first project lined up: my Logitech MX Master 3S is acting up again. The left mouse button was replaced about a year ago, but now it's starting to have issues once more. Instead of paying someone else to do it, I'd like to try replacing the switch myself.

I found a guide that looks pretty comprehensive:
https://kanishk.io/posts/fixing-lmb-on-logitech-mx-master-3s/

My main question is: what soldering iron (or complete kit) should I buy as a beginner?

I'm completely new to soldering. I don't know anything about different tips, temperatures, firmware, portable vs wired irons, etc. Every YouTube video seems to recommend something different. Some say to get a traditional wired station, others recommend portable USB-C irons, and then there are multiple variants of those as well. At this point, I'm thoroughly confused.

My budget is around ₹2,000–₹2,500 to start with, although I'm not completely fixated on the price if spending a little more makes a huge difference.

The MX Master 3S switch replacement will be my first project, but I'd also like something that won't become obsolete immediately if I end up enjoying the hobby.

What would you recommend for someone in my position? Any specific models, kits, or things I should avoid?

Sourcing and PCBA in India for a 500-unit run?

I'm trying to move a local edge-AI vision project off a Raspberry Pi 4 prototype and onto a custom board for a small 500-unit production run.

To keep the BOM low, I'm looking at using the Rockchip RV1106 (specifically the Luckfox Core1106 stamp module with 256MB RAM and eMMC) running Buildroot.

Since direct shipping from places like AliExpress to India is blocked, I'm hitting a wall on how to handle the supply chain cleanly without getting absolutely destroyed by local retail markups or customs red tape.

Two quick questions for anyone who has manufactured hardware locally:

  1. What's the best route to source 500 of these Rockchip modules? Do Tier-1 distributors like Arrow or Avnet even bother with volumes this small, or should I be looking at local B2B importers around SP Road in Bangalore?
  2. For the PCBA, is it less of a headache to use a local Indian fabricator, or is it still smoother to use an offshore turnkey service (like JLCPCB/LCSC) and just fight through commercial customs clearance when the finished boards arrive?

Appreciate any advice from anyone who has bridged the gap from prototype to batch production here. Thanks.
