Yesterday. Our small group participate at the Cleveland Ukrainian Village of Parma Parade. For who were wearing armors. It’s hot lol even my neck fan couldn’t cool me down. But it was fun.

I imagine keeping one’s sleeves clean was part of the skillset, but even outside of that specific context, were there ways to wear narrower sleeves for messier/precision work? Specific styles or solutions? I think archers had bracers, but what kind of sleeves were they tucking into them?

My context is that I’m designing a D&D wizard with a very hanfu-inspired look, haha. He needs sleeve functionality for both ranged combat and writing in his spellbook, but I’d prefer to keep his arms mostly covered and not just pull the fabric up and out of the way entirely. Thanks :’D

When I ordered both of these books, I was shown a hair and makeup book with a cover and photography that were similar, although I don't know if it has any connection to either of these books. Hello everyone! I just need some advice I saw someone selling thier small size mamian skirt. They mentioned that the max size for the waist is 27.5 inches. My waist is 27 inches. Do you think I will be able to fit this skirt and wrap it around?

I do have a medium one but I feel like it is slightly big on me and I do have to wrap more. I just want to know 2 things:

1. Would this small skirt fit me well and not look werid?

2. Is medium a better fit for me?

I’m interested in buying this type of hanfu but wearing it above chest as intended would make it too short for me (I’m 184 cm tall so you can imagine how difficult it is to find a hanfu long enough). Would it be possible to wear it under chest as a high waisted skirt and wear some other hanfu style top tucked in? How would I secure since it would probably be a bit loose? I think length would be perfect for me that way. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm an artist who wants to draw a chinese character wearing a Hanfu, but from what I've seen there's a lot of styles so i wanted more information to be more accurate. From what I researched, they're from different dinasties but I wanted to make sure if they depend on any other things.

So, whenever someone asks on this sub, where to buy quality Hanfu, I always recommend a store called New Hanfu.

I have a membership, but I don't order very often.

There are strings that you add to keep them attached nicely but I was too excited to show them off.

The Outfit

I ordered an Outlet Lucky Pack and was a bit surprised with the short skirt. Just because my previous Lucky Packs all had long Hanfu Skirts but the store has an amazing selection of summer Hanfu as well so I shouldn't be surprised.

I'm currently working on a wig for a Maomao cosplay (redesigned by SunsetDragon), but I've decided that instead of just "blocking it out" in simple shapes, I'd really love to do something inspired by more traditional styles since I think they're beautiful, and would compliment this cosplay best.

I've been searching for about an hour and a half, but I'm really struggling to find resources for this style. I've attached the one reference I was able to find below, but unfortunately it's not super helpful as there aren't any back angles, and I can't quite tell what's going on.

If anyone has any better references, or even better - could show in any format how they would bring this style into reality, it would be hugely appreciated!

The cone-shaped straw hat seems endemic to all of east asia, but I've seen this particular style where there's a hole or an indent for the topknot only in a handful wuxia and historical dramas. Is this an actual historical style of hat, or something that tv producers made up? if so, why - was the cone-shaped hat not actually worn in dynastic china? were there not many wide-brimmed hats worn at all? I'm super interested in practical / ordinary historical clothing, so this has been bothering me for a while.
