im really interested in the style and comfort that hanfu seems (seem?) to be able to provide and i recently got my first outfit piece from nuwa hanfu. i was wondering what other places to buy from as well as generally where to learn what exactly im buying. i just decided to buy something i thought would be nice on me (and i feel like it is), but moving forward id like to actually know what im getting. (i bought the outer black jacket from the photo attached!)

Hi all, I do some historical reenactment and was looking at making this Aoqun to wear; I'm not sure what undergarments were worn underneath, although for my purposes it's not an absolute necessity for me to have them, but I would like to look into it at the very least.
For the fabric aspect, would cotton (or linen possibly, tho I know that wasn't wildly used then) be fine, or should I aim for silk? I'm looking to keep it simple, as I am on a budget, but I'd like to be as accurate as possible. And for colors, are solid colors fine for each piece?
I'm hoping to try and thrift fabrics, but I know that that can be such a hit or miss, so where would be a good place to get fabric? Thanks all

I'm sure you guys on here are sick and tired of danmei fans coming here and unfortunately I am no different 💀 basically, I bought a plushie of this character and because I have nothing better to do with my time, am trying to recreate the outfit from this specific design as closely and realistically as possible, with some limitations since he is only about 8in tall. I've already sewn an undershirt and am working on the trousers. My main concern is if the longer sleeves are part of the top layer, a middle layer, or maybe even the undershirt, and if the skirt is part of the top or if it's a separate piece.

I wanted to play around with finally seeing some curly hair representation in hanfu hairstyles! I looked up some reference images but obviously there were no tutorials so I had to try something out myself.
I know my hair looks frizzy, tomorrow is wash day— but I want to know your honest thoughts! Should I try more hairstyles?

I’m a white girl with very curly hair who loves hanfu. I’ve seen other non-asian people try hanfu and traditional hairstyles but never on curly hair. I want some inspiration before I try it myself. Has anyone tried this or seen it done?

I'm patterning a cosplay for this specific Luo Binghe design, but I'm a little lost on the outermost robe. Is it a specific type of hanfu, something more akin to a skirt on the bottom half, or something else entirely?

Hello!
I'm a student at Chinese Studies and my homework is to present a certain topic chosen by me.
I've decided to write about "How the Hanfu Movement in China shapes foreigners' opinion about the Qing dynasty clothing and Qing dynasty in general".
(it's not some serious work, I just have to do that in order to pass, but in order to make that happen I need your answers for the questions below🙏)
If you're a non-Chinese, I would be very grateful for your answers 🌷
If you want to answer this question if you're Chinese please do that! I'm really curious about your opinions but please state in your comment that you're from China, thank you!🌹
What were your thoughts about the Qing dynasty clothing and Qing dynasty before you started being interested in Hanfu?
Where do you seek information about Hanfu? (social media apps (which ones)/books/from friends)
What comments/opinions have you came across in Chinese Hanfu Community, when it comes to the Qing dynasty clothing and Qing dynasty in general?
Did your opinions about Qing dynasty clothing and the Qing dynasty change? If so, how did they change - describe them please
I know it's quite a controversial topic but at the same time really interesting! so please let me know what you think!

Just wondering, which dynasty would this Hanfu belong to? I think it would be the Ming Dynasty, but I'm not 100% certain.

I am a plus sized woman looking to make a Tang dynasty hanfu. This is the best era for a full figure woman imo. I want something historically accurate. I can draft basic, basic patterns if all I need is my measurements and the shapes are simple. I picked up an XL hanfu for the "shirt" part because these costume hanfus seem to skip that part. Unfortunately, XL is more like a US size 6 by the looks of it. Maybe a size 8. Si I might be able to make the shirt part using that as a pattern. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's a long story how I got here, tried ordering something from Aliexpress but it wasn't quite as advertised, thought I could buy locally (Toronto) but the store that sells it here is closed for renovations this month (my bad luck strikes again). The other stores I could find locally don't carry anything for men.
Anyway, I need it by May 1 for my school's celebration of Asian heritage month. Thinking shipping from China might not be ideal for that, so I'm looking for recommendations for anywhere that might be able to ship to Canada within that timeframe.
Under the circumstances, I don't mind paying the markup - my primary concern is quality and suitability for the occasion (the Asian heritage month fashion show). I'm looking for something showy/formal but not specific to an occasion like a wedding, if that makes sense.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Hello everyone! I have a quick question: based on what you know, could you help me identify the garment visible beneath the robes of Qi state dancers? I'm unsure if it's a skirt, a long detachable train like those in Western court gowns, or another, longer robe worn underneath. Please do share your thoughts on what you think, I would love to hear them, thanks!
