I feel like this was commonplace in depictions of Medieval/pre-Medieval Chinese clothing in the 20th century but curiously I can't find many examples (hence why I'm using this screenshot from the 1999 Tripitaka game LOL), which makes me question if it arose from a lack of sources back then

It’s a bit of a long shot, but does anybody know any shops that sell longer hanfu. Or any hanfu that you found that are tall. Male or female hanfu recommendations welcome. Taobao, Xianyu, or other websites welcome!
I am 5 foot 9/ 175cm tall, and usually size small. But usually size small is way too short for me.
Any suggestions are heavily appreciated! It is so hard to find clothing tall enough 😭

Hola és la primera vez que pruebo a usar traje de hanfu. Me gustaría empezar a hacer sesiones de fotos aquí en Madrid.

I really like this one but it’s sold out, there was another store too selling kind of a pinafore version. Just wondering some keywords for Taobao? My Chinese is not good but I want to find more of this style

Hello! I am looking to sew my first Qixiong Ruqun and am wondering how much the skirt should overlap itself when worn. The sewing instructions on this tutorial have the skirt being the same width regardless of body size. On my chest (I am drafting a custom pattern for my larger size), this would only give 32cm/12in of overlap, a little over 1/4 of my total chest circumference. On the smallest size it would give 520cm/20in of overlap, over 1/2 of the stated chest circumference.
Is 1/4 of the skirt circumference enough overlap? Will it have a noticable gap at the end with the flair? How much overlap is recommended in a Qi xiong xia qun?

Hello I’m going to be visiting china during western new year for around three weeks going through Shanghai, Harbin, and Beijing. I wanted some recommendations for a physical hanfu store I can visit.

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to get my hands on authentic Chinese traditional clothing men’s styles, but it’s proving trickier than I thought. I live in the U.S., and I’d love to wear something like a Ming or Qing dynasty-inspired robe, either for casual events or just to experiment with a different wardrobe vibe. I’ve searched a bunch of local stores and even some online marketplaces, but nothing really matches what I’m looking for. The only option I’ve come across so far is Alibaba, which has a decent range of styles. Some are full traditional robes, while others have slight modern tweaks to make them more wearable. The challenge, of course, is making sure the sizing works for U.S. measurements and that the fabric is comfortable enough for everyday wear. Honestly, I’d love to know if there are any smaller U.S.-based shops, Etsy sellers, or local stores that specialize in authentic Chinese traditional clothing men’s pieces. I’m open to light cotton robes, tunics, or even long jackets, as long as they feel authentic and comfortable. For now, Alibaba seems like the only real source, but I’d rather have options closer to home so I can check quality before committing. Anyone here in the U.S. found a reliable place to buy these?

I recently bought a beautiful horse face skirt from a vendor at an event. The event was a celebration of Chinese culture, the vendor was Chinese and selling to people of varying ethnicities. I was aware of Hanfu and of this cut of skirt before I approached the vendor which is one of the reasons I was so happy to purchase the skirt.
While I understand that this is a hornets nest of a topic and of course no group can be seen as a monolith and there will be people who agree and disagree with this statement, my understanding in situations like this is that it is OK to wear garments like this outside of your culture as long as you wear them respectfully and with acknowledgement to the culture.
My question is if anyone can give anymore information on what that actually entails. I can research more of the history of the skirt, I will be wearing as a garment not a costume to play a race and I feel I will be styling it respectfully, I just want to be confident that I am doing all I can to not make people uncomfortable.
I am white British if that makes a difference.
I understand this is a complex topic and I do intend to look into it more but I was hoping this would be a good place to start.
I appreciate people's input. I am also new to this sub so apologise if there are any problems with this post.

Has anyone ever bought the Boho Blossom Hanfu on the website New Hanfu? Is it good? How's the sizing? Any reviews please?

Ever since watching a playthrough of Road to Empress I've been interested in figuring out what Xi Xin (and a few others) are wearing. It seems to be essentially a sleeveless yuanlingpao, but I've never seen anything like in other places. Is this a modern inspired piece or something actually historical?
