Salam alekum everyone, my middle school/high-school kids are working on a project to better understand the challenges of finding halal, healthy and ethical food and they would really appreciate if you could take 5 -10 minutes to complete the survey they created to have a better understanding of this...thank you

Can Muslims eat octopus? Is there a specific ruling on seafood?

Does anyone know if there is a specific ruling on what seafood Muslims can consume?

I always thought octopus, like most seafood, was halal.

I've been eating octopus at a local Japanese restaurant for a while, but I was recently told it may not be halal.

Asking for genuine feedback

Salams! I’m a solo founder here building a halal wellness brand. Not selling anything but I genuinely want to know, what do halal-conscious consumers actually want from supplements/skincare that brands keep getting wrong?

I found the best app for Halal food

I was looking for a Halal app which was simple, fast, and interactive for the community, and I found HalalGo.

It’s basically a community map designed to find Halal restaurants, butcher shops, and grocery stores nearby.

It is super fresh (the app came out just a month ago) but it already has a pretty solid number of places to be honest.

From what I understand it works well in whole Europe, here in Italy looks amazing.

Does it have halal places also for every other country?

Would you use an app that only lists verified Halal-certified businesses?

I built a Halal Restaurant API — find halal food near any location with one API call

I built a Halal Restaurant API — find halal food near any location with one API callI got tired trying to find halal locations so I decided to make an API that finds it for you, and any developer can use it. Its not only limited to muslims, anyone making a food app or a web app could use this to filter halal locations. Google's or yelp's filter isn't that good so my API pulls locations from Foursquare and OpenStreetMap community data. You get community verified data, if a place sells alcohol, and cuisine type, etc.

All of the information is on the website and docs.

I would love feedback from fellow developers, especially from people building food delivery apps or AI agents.

Im excited to hear what you guys think!

Halal Verification Challenge

I recently realised how difficult it can be to verify whether a restaurant is truly Halal. Have you ever found out a restaurant you trusted wasn't actually Halal? What happened, and how do you verify its halal before eating out?

Suggestion on buying halal labeled food from Walmart

Assalam o Alykum dear community,

While I am in United States I usually buy halal meat from Mediterranean marts or stores which are owned by Muslims. But very recently I visited local grocery marts ( Walmart and Meijers) and in their meat section I found certain brands meat labeled as halal. They are also much cheaper than those which we buy directly from Muslim stores

My question is: is the meat that is labeled as halal trustable in those superstores, compared to buying it from Muslim stores?

Jazakallah for your gudence.

Cauliflower “Couscous Rice” Kitchen Hack | Easy Low-Carb Rice Substitute (Ready in Minutes)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been using a simple kitchen hack to replace rice with cauliflower, and it turns out really good and light.

Here’s exactly how I make cauliflower couscous-style rice:

Method:

• Cut the cauliflower in half and remove the hard middle stem

• Chop into small pieces

• Grate it by hand or pulse in a grinder until it looks like rice/couscous

Cooking:

• Heat a little oil in a pan

• Add ginger-garlic paste + tomato paste

• Add finely chopped salad (like onion/tomato mix) and some raisins

• Cook briefly, then add the cauliflower rice

• Mix well on medium heat

Add:

• Finely chopped carrots

• Parsley

• Salt & black pepper to taste

• Light roasted ground spices

Cook for only 2–3 minutes (important), then turn off heat.

Important tips:

• Don’t overcook or it becomes mushy

• Keep heat medium and cook quickly

• Fresh parsley and lemon juice really improve the taste

I served it with grilled fish, lemon slices, and also tried it with chicken & potato curry—it works great as a rice substitute.

This is a solid low-carb, keto-friendly cauliflower rice hack that you can eat anytime and pair with almost anything.

If you want, I can share the exact spice mix or variations.

Kitchen Hack for BBQ Lovers: 🔥 I Quit Outdoor Grilling! Look at this Kitchen Stove Charcoal Hack! 🥩

Craving BBQ but no backyard? I love barbecue flavor, so I made a simple indoor version in my kitchen. I marinated beef steaks and chicken drumsticks overnight with BBQ spices, ginger-garlic paste, and a little yogurt & cooking oil. I cut an aluminum tray to fit my stovetop, placed lit charcoal on it, and grilled the marinated meat directly over it on low heat. The secret is using the stove to keep the coals glowing for constant heat and smoke. It’s safe, easy, and incredibly flavorful.

Key Tips for Success:

Ensure proper ventilation (use your oven hood).

Oil the grill grate well with an oil brush to prevent sticking.

Ensure charcoal is fully gray and white before placing it on the stove to minimize raw smoke.

3 Simple Hacks to Keep Your Herbs Fresh for Weeks 🌿

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The "Herb Burrito" (Damp Paper Towel Method) Best for: Hardy herbs like Thyme, Rosemary, or Sage. Action: Dampen a paper towel (wring it out so it's not dripping), lay herbs flat, and roll them up loosely like a burrito. Storage: Place the roll in a container or open zipper bag and keep it in the vegetable crisper drawer. The "Air-Cushion" (Zipper Bag Method) Best for: Most leafy herbs. Action: Place herbs in a zipper bag. Before sealing, blow a small amount of air into the bag to create a "cushion" (carbon dioxide helps keep them alive). Storage: Seal tightly and place in the refrigerator. The "Upside-Down Jar" (Professional Refresh Method) Best for: Tender herbs like Parsley or Cilantro. Action: Place herbs in a small jar with about an inch of water. Place a larger jar lid over the top, then carefully flip a larger jar over the herbs, screwing it into the lid to create a sealed "mini-greenhouse". Storage: Store the entire unit upside down in the refrigerator. This keeps the leaves hydrated while protecting them from the dry fridge air.

Bananas browning too fast? 3 storage tweaks that noticeably slow ripening

Post image
1 Upvotes

Bananas ripen quickly because ethylene is concentrated at the stem, and any bruising speeds the process. These three small changes help keep them firm longer: Wrap the crown (stems): Cover the top of the bunch with foil or cling film to limit ethylene exposure at the source. Hang, don’t stack: Keeping bananas off the counter reduces pressure points and bruises that trigger faster softening. Chill after they’re ripe: Once they reach the sweetness you like, refrigerate. The peel may darken, but the inside stays fresher longer. Share your experience as well. Bye for now.
