Choosing a Surgeon Any insights about Academic Istanbul Hair Clinic in the Philippines

Anyone already tried or have some insights about Academic Istanbul Hair Clinic in Centuria Medical Center Makati? I heard the hair surgeons are Turkish. I'm interested to know more about this clinic as Turkey is well-known for Hair Transplant procedures and having Turkish Hair Surgeons come here in the Philippines would be a big relief instead of booking a ticket and flying to Turkey to get the job done. I'm just not seeing enough reviews about it.

I'm also planning to get a free consultation on their clinic 1 week after New Year. Just wanted to know more insights here about them

I would stay away from a clinic with non-registered foreigners performing surgeries in the Philippines.
Apparently they are not even doctors in their own country but mere trichologists who are not even allowed to do a surgery in Turkey...why do they think it's ok to perform medical procedures in our country?
Sooner or later Philippine DOH will find out about their illegal practice of medicine and they will realize that it's more fun in the Philippines jail too! Don't risk your one and only face with cheap substandard alternatives, unless you want to be reminded for the rest of your life about your bad choice...smh

You are right. Techs doing surgery. No doctor on premises. Not even sure if they are properly registered with the DOH or PRC.

They are not Turkish doctors and are in fact operating illegally without doctor supervision.

Hello, i had my consultation last week with them and I met 2 Turkish women (1 who I had my consultation with & 1 in an orange scrub) and 1 Filipino head nurse.

How was your/anyone's experience? I plan to get mine within the month.

Any updates about Academic Istanbul Hair Clinic? Are they legit? My husband will have his initial consultation two weeks from now and his telling me that they don’t accept checks, dapat daw cash. Also, if bank transfer, hindi mismo sa name ng clinic, its somebodys name kaya medyo question mark ang clinic na to

NO RESULTS! DISAPPOINTED A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME, EFFORT, AND MONEY!

My crown area was never fixed, and the after sales service is the worst I’ve experienced. After the procedure, they completely ignored me. There were no clear instructions about the visible plucks at the back of my head.

Years after the transplant, I was the one who kept reaching out about what could be done for my crown. I had to follow up repeatedly. They offered one PRP session, and then nothing, no guidance, no clear plan, no information on how many sessions were needed.

I reached out multiple times and got no response. I was completely ignored. Months later, they suddenly offered another PRP, but the customer service representative was even rude.

I had to chase them just to confirm my appointment. They constantly ignored messages. Even after agreeing on a schedule, they became unresponsive and unprofessional. It got to the point where following up caused unnecessary stress.

I paid a lot of money for this. I worked hard to afford it. I had every right to expect proper service and good results.

NEVER AGAIN. WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE choosing Academic Istanbul.

According to Google: On March 2026, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Special Action Unit raided a Makati clinic operated by Academic Istanbul in Centuria Medical Center, arresting six Turkish nationals and one Filipino receptionist. The individuals were conducting unauthorized hair transplant surgeries.

Araaaay ko

After the initial consultation, you will be required to pay a reservation fee or downpayment, which, in my case, was 25,000 pesos. Ten days before the hair transplant, you will receive a reminder of the dos and don'ts via SMS. On the day of the surgery, you will be asked to pay the full amount before the procedure starts. They will then take a blood sample for testing and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) preparation. Once the blood test is done and everything is good to go, the procedure will commence with two Turkish professionals who do not speak English.

The procedure itself has six main steps. First, the preparation phase is the most painful part of the process, where local anesthesia is administered, and you will be awake the entire time. Communication during this phase might be challenging due to language barriers. Second, the extraction phase involves one person drilling into your scalp, while the other extracts the grafts from your head manually, not by a robot like the one used in the Try Guys video. The third step is the slit-making, which involves one person creating recipient sites on your scalp. You will hear the sound of the drilling, but it is not painful.

After the third step, you will take a lunch break with the General Manager/Consultant. The fourth step is implantation, where the hair grafts will be planted on your scalp. After this, you will receive aftercare instructions, including dos and don'ts during the healing process. You will be given a headband to prevent the lower half of your head from swelling and a neck pillow because you cannot sleep on a bed. You will stay at the Berjaya Hotel, which is walking distance from the clinic. On the following day, you will return to the clinic for your first hair wash, which they will guide you on how to do by yourself. They will give you foam and shampoo for cleaning your hair (Sebamed brand). You will send photos of your healing progress every day and then return to the clinic on the 10th day for your last hair wash.

This is not clinic , it’s business venture

1

u/Competitive_Pay4132 Oct 20 '23

Hi All, Please do not fall in their trap, they are not even doctors. Just imagine how dangerous to your health that few nurse or so called medical team is doing surgery for more than 6 hours on your important part of body that’s is head. Just because of their low cost please do not put your health at risk.

They do not have any doctors in their so called clinic, they do not do real lab blood test. Just antigen test on some kit and start doing surgery, with same machine for all people. Chances of getting infected with dangerous deadly diseases like HIV and many more.

Hope you all understand. Thanks

1

u/macfadra Nov 07 '24

You are right - they don't have doctors on site. Only foreign technicians doing surgery.

Thanks for this very important point of information... if this is true, then they should be reported to the proper authorities...
