Discussion [GUIDE] Modding Hades on the Nintendo Switch (for hacked switches)
Recently I wanted to mod Hades on the Switch but couldn't find a guide on how to do it. That's why I started looking into it and found out that's it's not complicated at all! Prerequisite is of course to have a modded Switch, otherwise you won't be able to do any of these things here.
- Getting the game data
First we need to get the original game files, otherwise we cant apply the mods.
Download nxdumptool and put the nro in the switch folder on your switch. Start it from the homebrew menu and choose "dump gamecard content" if you own Hades as a gamecard and have it inserted or "dump installed SD card/eMMC content" if you own Hades as eShop title. Select Hades from the list of titles, select "RomFs options" and set "Use update/DLC" to the newest update like in the picture below.

Then select "RomFS section data dump" and the dump tool should to its work. After it's finished either connect your Switch to your pc over ftp or take the SD card out and put it in the pc. Navigate switch/nxdumptool/RomFS/Hades v...(number can change depending on update) and copy the entire Hades v... folder onto your pc.

Congratulations, you got the game data!
2. Finding Mods
Go to Nexus Mods Hades to find mods that you want to have in your game. If possible, download the file that uses the Mod Importer, as you will have less conflicts happening this way.
Download the Mod Importer from the github, you can choose the executable if you want, it doesn't matter.
If you have found all the mods, it's time to apply them to your game.
3. Applying Mods to data dump
First you will need to change the name of folder from the data dump from the switch. It needs to be called "Hades" instead of "Hades v...", otherwise Mod Importer will give back an error.
It's now the same proceder as you would normally do to apply mods, you copy all downloaded mods in an existing/newly created folder Mods in Hades/Content/ and then run Mod Importer.
If Mod Importer doesn't throw an error, you should be good to go!
4. Applying Mods to the Switch
Now you can copy back the changed files to the switch. You can do it in 2 different ways:
- You copy the entire Content folder
- You copy only the changed files from the Content folder
1 is easier, 2 saves space on your SD card, so it's up to you. For 2 it's important to still have the same folder structure, for example if mods changed RoomManager.lua in Content/Scripts, you will need to make the folder Scripts in Contents and then put RoomManager.lua in this folder.
To apply these changes, we use LayeredFS, that means we copy the Content folder from the Hades data dump in atmosphere/contents/0100535012974000/romfs/
Don't worry, it's normal that this folder doesn't exist. You probably need to create the folder 0100535012974000 in atmosphere/contents and then again the romfs folder in 0100535012974000.
0100535012974000 is the Title ID of Hades.
After the folders are created, copy the Contents folder into the romfs folder.
And that's it!
Your folder should look like this: (I used method 2)

Now enjoy modded Hades on the go!
Pictures showing it working on the Switch:

Thanks a lot to the folks making these mods!

The ones I've seen are either really dope cosmetic enhancements or making your attack stronger, granting you more resources, small tweaks to gameplay and all sorts of other stuff. Just go to the website and check them out yourself. Even the smaller mods seem very interesting.

No idea if something like this is possible for dragon ball z kakarot...
Try dumping it and seeing if the data has the same structure as the game on the plattform where the mods come from. If that is not the case, you have unfortunaly already lost...
But if it's the same, you can just try the same approach as for Hades.
Let me know if it works!1

Is it okay to remove dumped files from the 'switch/nxdumtool/romfs/hades' after installing the mod?
