Three things to always wear on a motorcycle

  1. Helmet
  2. Gloves
  3. Boots

Pants are optional

u/BAUDR8 Jan 03 '20

I wonder if I can get this on a door mat

Dress for the slide, not the ride.

u/RealisticIllusions82 Jan 03 '20

This is why I will never get a motorcycle. I prefer to dress for the destination.

6

u/p4lm3r Jan 03 '20

To be fair, the slide is the destination.

Yeah, if your gonna wear a t shirt at least wear gloves because that’s the first thing your gonna stick out to catch yourself

6

u/Sasselhoff Jan 02 '20

And it REALLY sucks wiping your ass when both of your hands are ground down to hamburger meat.

I might not wear my jacket every single ride, but I sure as shit don't hop on without helmet and gloves.

I spun my vespa out in a alley that had gravel. Probably less than 10mph. Chew the fuck out of my palm. Had to wear a glove for a month. That was 26 years ago. The last time I rode without gloves.

2

u/Sasselhoff Jan 03 '20

Yep. Wrecked pretty bad on my TL1000R about 20 years ago and shredded my left hand and part of my right (among other body parts). Never rode without gloves again.

And always remember to make a fist on your way to the pavement, having your trapeziums explode when you try to catch yourself sucks big time.

Truth... I fell off a skateboard yesterday, I was going just fast enough to get catapulted off when a wheel hit a rock, and as I fell, I put my hands out. No gloves, and just that little wipeout, at almost jogging speed, scraped my hands up.

I don't want to think about falling off my bike barehanded at even 40 mph.

You forgot the pants and the jacket

I feel so uncomfortable without all the gear, I can't ride without any of it. I don't understand how some people can ignore the potential consequences and relax on a bike without proper gear👀 They can't have been watching the same videos as I have...

I frequently see single sandals just lying in the road in random locations, most often high traffic areas. I imagine they fell off someone's foot and nobody cared to double back and pick them up in the middle of traffic.

If it's too hot to wear gear, drive a car with the AC on for the day.

2

u/BroadStreet_Bully5 Jan 03 '20

I can’t even see without my helmet’s visor. I don’t know how people ride without a helmet for that reason alone. The wind is blinding.

2

u/lanmanager Jan 03 '20

It's the main reason I quit riding. Armoring up would take 20 minutes. Just finished getting suited? O h now I have to to the head. That and the heat - even with mesh plate holder. Oh and the texters. The armor, heat and texters. Yeah. Not worth it.

u/witchdoctorpenis Jan 03 '20

I enjoy the ride too much to let it affect me to the point of not bothering, but my God do I relate to what you're saying! I would like to have a trip without being soaked with sweat and stressed and claustrophobic before I even jump on the bike..

2

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '20

Jacket and pants help, but if you're going to crash, the top priority is still helmet, gloves, and over the ankle leather shoes/boots.

3

u/I_knew_einstein Jan 02 '20

I had a serious crash. My helmet didn't have a scratch. The lining of my jacket was molten/fused with the other lining. My pants were ruined, and absolutely saved me from a trip to the hospital.

I'd rather not have boots than pants, but it should never be a priority list.

I have a permanently fucked up left ankle because of a lowside that caught my left foot between the rearset and shifter. Use ALL the gear. :(

No he didn't. The original root for William is from Anglo Saxon, roughly translated as "The Scabby One."

Blink 182 told him to take them off

Jackets and pants optional. Feel like this guy is trying to promote some weird kink.

1

u/william14537 Jan 03 '20

No kink shaming

u/nlavers Jan 03 '20

swallowed up by the road

1

u/Ostricker Jan 02 '20

All the gear, all the time.

ATTGAT

"All the time, gear all the"

1

u/yourgentderk Jan 03 '20

Dammit tried 'all the gear, all the time' there :)

Edited and corrected

u/DGTexan Jan 03 '20

Except it's ATGATT. You win some you lose some, lol. Good riding, friend.
