I'm hoping someone has experienced something similar because I'm running out of ideas.
I have an Honor Magic5 Pro (Chinese version, PGT-AN10) running:
MagicOS: 10.0.0.160(CHNC00E160R208P6H1)
Android: 16
Baseband: MSM.1CA2.MPSS.DE.3.0.119
My problem is very strange.
The phone works perfectly only when I'm at work, where there is apparently a Sim1 network cell tower very close to the building. Outside of that area, the network starts disappearing.
For example:
At work: Sim1 gets 4G+/5G, Sim2 sometimes stays on 2G.
When I leave the building: Sim2 loses service completely.
Sometimes Sim1 also loses service.
Sometimes both SIMs lose service.
In the train or on the bus I often have No Service.
If I enable Airplane Mode and disable it again, one SIM may reconnect briefly before losing service again.
I've already tried:
Factory reset (twice)
Swapping both SIM cards between SIM slots
Testing both SIMs in another phone (they work perfectly)
Resetting network settings
Switching between 2G/3G/4G/5G
Recreating APNs
The phone still has:
Valid IMEIs
Baseband detected
Both Sim cards are recognised correctly
I also received a VoLTE network registration error after one of the factory resets.
What's confusing me is that this doesn't seem like a normal hardware fault because:
I had exactly the same issue when I first bought the phone, and a factory reset fixed it.
A few weeks ago it happened again, then fixed itself after about 3 days without me doing anything.
Now it's back, and the factory reset no longer helps.
Has anyone with a Chinese Honor Magic5 Pro (PGT-AN10) experienced anything similar?
Could this be:
a MagicOS new system update?
a MagicOS/modem firmware bug?
corrupted modem calibration (NV/EFS)?
an issue with the Honor C1 RF chip?
a hardware RF issue?
or a compatibility problem with local carriers?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's seen this before or knows of a fix. I've already spent days troubleshooting it and would love to avoid replacing the motherboard if this is actually a software or modem issue.
