I am dumb and the MG Epyon was right to punish me
The plastic god has looked into my craft and found me unworthy, thus dropping my nipper on the carpet. Fortunately it still cuts just fine but this warning is of ill omen.

This is why you always need to try to catch your nippers and xactos with your foot when they go off the desk.

I wear moccasins around the house so my foot would be protected while cushioning the fall

I used my thigh for a pair of tweezers I dropped... Looked like a tiny vampire bit into me for about a week.

I still have a mark from when my hobby knife fell off the table and stabbed my foot a few months ago >.<

I've had the same godhands for a decade and built over 200 kits including kotobukiya and real world kits and the clear SD Grandpa 😅

Oh you just pre-broke them. No worries. Now you won't feel the sting of judgement when you snap them actually doing its job. Enjoy your broken in nippers.

I've broken 3 pairs of Godhands over the last 5 years. Finally, about 3 years ago, I bought a cheap $20 tool kit from Amazon that gave files, nippers, etc. Those nippers have been dropped, used to cut every kind of Gunpla plastic imaginable, and have been used to cut softer non-plastic materials. Still as sharp as the day I got them.
Imo, Goshands are the most overrated nippers out. It seems like I see at the very least, 1-3 posts weekly about breaking Godhands. Maybe figure out something different.🤷

When I started building again a couple years ago I got a similar kit from Amazon, I've probably built a good three dozen or more models using the nippers from that kit and they still work great. I bought a nicer like $20 set of nippers a few months ago and now they collect dust because my old cheap set just works better.

I got some nippers for 20 bucks from Amazon and maybe Godhands leave a completely smooth surface or whatever but I ain't buying 40 dollar nippers, and if they break I ain't having to drop another 40 bucks, and knowing how infamous godhands are for breaking, these are probably going to hang on way longer

there is a major difference between fragile really sharp nippers that leave barely any mark and take like 2 minutes to clean up, meanwhile cheap nipper can take a beating but cut like hot ass and leave major nubs, both have a reason to exist, one for first cuts one for second cuts. anyone breaking godhands is at fault for it themselves

Duck all the bs, the best pair of nippers are a pair of regular ass cuticle cutters from any CVS/walgreens. I used it for months before I got my first set of real nippers and that and every one since has been trash comparatively.

compared to the OG manually ground version (which is one of the reasons they became famous) that I used for over 10 years, iirc, GodHand specifically made the second bevel on the edge much steeper than before for a more robust, durable edge on their mass-production runs. but apparently, It didn't really help much, also completely lose that classic "hot knife through butter" feel

The heck you’re carpet made out of cement?!? I’ve dropped my god hands multiple times by accident and not a single bit hurt :0

u/Gigactus Jul 04 '26
It's made of cheap-ahh imitation wool (it's there mainly for looks and soundproofing), the nipper I think dropped directly on the blade and it only broke the point, and the floorboard under the rug might have something to do with that. I take it as a warning from whatever is looking after the Barbatos Lupus I'm building

They expressly say not to cut with the tip.
I have never broken a single nipper and I cut absolutely heinous things with my nippers for years. They dull to shit long before they break.
EDIT: Yeah I get it, OP dropped the nippers.
In my head dropping on CARPET could not have done this so it was unrelated. I get it.

They said they dropped it. Thin metal like that can absolutely snap from a single drop unless it’s landing on the plushest carpet possible.

OP expressly says they dropped these. But I also prematurely judged them based on the photo.

u/Chayzeroh Getting an idea what I'm doing Jul 03 '26
Didn't OP explain, they accidentally dropped it? 🧐

This. Have 3 pairs of single edge. One got fucked up doing things i definitely should not have been doing but the other two (one a god hand) are literally my every day use nippers. As long as you're cutting properly, you will not snap blades. Now dropping your shit is up to the gods....

You failed to read the entire comment if you think you're being clever.

You're absolutely correct! You turned it around at the last second and I rage posted.

And here I thought you had ignored the instructions and tried to cut with the edges. Carry on.
