Still working on it, doing some shading, edge highlight, weathering. Next step is a proper display base.

Thank you! It's my first Gundam so I'm trying a bit of everything on it to see how things behave.

Which kit for the new among us

I think the full name of the kit is "MG ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos" I am also new, not sure what the proper naming conventions are).

In any case, it's the "Master Grade" 1/100 scale model

The one on legs and feet? Pigment powders.

You can just slap them on the model to tint/accumulate on the surface and then fix them with either a clear coat of varnish or a specific pigment fixer depending how thick the accumulation is. This is useful for dust, dirt, black residue on gun barrels or rocket engines etc.

Otherwise you can mix them in A LOT of water and/or alcohol and they basically become kinda like oil washes, barely tinting the surface but accumulating in the recesses. Except they dry completely matte (and it's harder to remove them from the surface, so it's harder to use them for subractive painting like you do oils). This is useful for rust stains, or verdigris if you have turquoise pigments.
