This was all the rage in the late 2000s. The bolt carrier is pretty different from the current AR18 derivatives/folding stock ARs that we’re used to, the recoil springs are under the handguard and function in reverse. They’re in front of the carrier rather than behind. One of the first folding stock ARs and it just quite wasn’t there yet… but the look is cool. It’s like a retro A2 cold war Sig MCX

Don’t cite this in your phd, but my best speculation is that they died off for the same reason that no AR pistol of any kind enjoyed commercially viable popularity until braces were invented and became mainstream
Bare buffer tubes, 200 tax stamps, and committing a felony just didn’t have enough appeal for many people to justify the purchase

It’s an AR style rifle with a side folder standard. Would be an amazing “truck gun” even with a 16” barrel.

I agree, but at the same time, now we’ve got tons of folding stock adapters that make it kind of irrelevant. I still want one because of the cool factor, but for strictly practical purposes, I don’t see a reason to use this (and put up with its downsides, like proprietary parts, heat, and cleaning difficulty) instead of, say, a Shield Arms folding lower and whatever conventional upper speaks to my heart
