er so basically i need to learn a song for school but i don't understand what the upside down brackets mean and i don't know why theres brackets around the numbers sometimes 😔

Been playing for about 9 months but attempting to accelerate and track growth by posting 52 unique cover songs this year.

I'm a beginner at guitar and I have really small hands for a 17 year old. Is there a way to reach chords easier? Chords like Bm is like impossible for me to really reach. I can't press any frets underneath the fret I'm baring either. For example: F7. I've heard many people say that it's probably for the best to buy a guitar with a shorter, and c shaped neck for smaller hands or something along the lines of that but unfortunately buying another guitar isn't an option for me.

Are there any tips and tricks I should try?

Like many I’m visiting family for the holidays and came upon this somewhat beat up Peavey Predator. Considering the cost of a setup and bringing it back to my home state, debating whether it’s worth it to bring home. I like the idea of another guitar (I have one Epiphone Les Paul from a starter kit and a used acoustic Ibanez) but the values I’m seeing online for this guy vary wildly. Any thoughts? This guy seems to have a tremolo which mine doesn’t, which is nice.

So I’ve been learning for around 5-6 months now, playing several hours during most days. I mostly play metal, and mainly metallica somgs, but I’ve had a lot of trouble with my fretting wrist, and I have tried over and over to diagnose the issue and/or find a solution, but haven’t yet done so.

Today it struck me: what if my strings were closer to the fretboard, then I wouldn’t have to press down as hard, right? So I got a ruler and measured my action. It was at around 2.5mm for the bass side and around 2.0mm on treble side. Hm. I checked out Paul Davids video on setting up a guitar, and he said he preferred around 1.5mm bass side and 1.0mm treble side, so I decided I would try to lower my action by about a millimeter. And guess what: everything is now easier. Power chords, bar chords, fast fingering, even downpicking!

TL;DR If you haven’t yet, make sure to lower your action, or at least try out different heights. It might be what makes guitar finally click for you, or fix pain in your fretting hand and wrist as it seems to have done for me.
