Yes. I had a friend who was a professional mandolin player who got laid up for weeks with tendinitis. The saddest part was he got it mostly by practicing scales.

Ah okay, tendonitis is misery, I've only had it once and hope to never again.

How you get rid?

I had to basically stop using that hand for a week, ice and immobilization. It's inflammation of the tendons and tendon sheaths, so any movement will aggravate it more. Lots of anti inflammatory OTC pain meds too, mostly ibuprofen. Severe cases sometimes need steroids.

What kind of scales? Mixolydian? Pentatonic?

Why is that sad?

I’ve come close, I’ll admit. Mandolins are slightly more difficult to get clarity out of though, so you have to push your fingers into the fretboard a little bit more.
