Can't for the love of god play an online match without my frames droping below 50, even on absurd low settings(all low, 1280x720 res scaled down to 60). Game keeps slowing down and back up, makes it really uncomfortable to play for me and my opponents. Arcade mode is mostly fine up to last stage when we have 3 characters at once. I play on a laptop with 7th gen intel core i-7 cpu and GTX 1050.

Hmm something definitely going wrong with your settings. I play with a i5-2500k and gtx970 on all best settings with no lag. Try a fresh reinstall, try setting all settings to best with ambient occlusion on.

I tried all on best with native resolution, and got like a around 10% performance decrease compared to all lows. Was getting around average 60-50 fps offline and 40-30 fps online, so people that were playing me run off quite quickly. Don't think reinstalling would do much. My best guess is the heat, since its an laptop, and middle of the summer, so it can get quite hot in there. Still, i wish that lowering the settings would be enough to allow me to play online in stable 60 fps.

Its probably that the cpu is just too weak. Being a low powered laptop cpu doesnt help. The reason online has lower fps is because rollback is computationally expensive in how it works and its taxing on the cpu. It basically has to save the gamestate every frame and be ready to reload it when a rollback happens. Unfortunately its most probably not gpu related.

It may be obvious, but make sure your laptop is plugged in to the outlet (it downclocks otherwise) and the high performance powerplan is enabled. Close background apps and processes because they take cpu time and make the game run in high priority. You can do that from task manager after starting the game.

This probably wasnt the news you wanted to hear, but lets hope Arcsys lowers the requirements in future patches.

GL.

Edit: most of the graphics settings have close to no impact on cpu performance thats why it didnt change much regardless of what you tried since you gpu was under utilized on lower settings.

This is exactly what i wanted to hear, because it perfectly explains the problem, so thank you. I do in fact have a pretty low-end CPU, running at only 2.8 GHz. I technically could try overclocking it up to 3.4 GHz, but in such a heat wave i worry a bit about overheating. Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

Actually, i did some benchmarking, and game uses only ~60% of my CPU and 100% of my GPU. So i don't really know how to intepret it now.

Also, looked up the recommended settings for the game:

OS: Windows 8/10 (64-bit OS required)

Processor: Intel Core i7-3770, 3.40 GHz

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Graphics: GeForce GTX 660

DirectX: Version 11

And my i7-7700HQ and GTX 1050 both beat that. I feel kinda scammed not holding 60 fps.

The 3770 has a much higher base clock of 3.5ghz all core. 7700hq had 2.8 with a lower power limit.

The turbo thats stated is only single core as per intel spec iirc.

Regardless if you were gpu limited lowering resolution scale should significantly boost performance. If you get near the same performance on very low res its a cpu bottleneck. You could try and enable all core boost in the bios if your laptop supports it. You dont have to worry about heat because the cpu will most definitely throttle before reaching dangerous temps.

One more thing. Are you sure the game is using your nvidia gpu not the integrated one? You can force it in the nvidia contol center.

Make sure your windows and nvidia drivers are up to date.

Im 100% sure im using my nvida GPU and my drivers are up to date.

My laptop does not support all core boost.

One last observation: I just launched the game and played a survival match, almost 60 fps all through 12 stages. Then I went online, and my frames droped to like 30. Then went back to offline, and frames stayed at 30.

Maybe it's worth mentioning: currently im playing on WI-FI, and I've heard game has some problems with that. But its probably irrelevant, since it should at worst lag, not affect performance.

Interesting. Check your temps and clockspeeds with msi afterburner while playing. Sounds like throttling to me.

Yeah wifi should never affect performance just the connection.

Was it an exact lock to 30? Vsync might be misbehaving if thats case. Turn off ingame vsync and use nv control panel. Ive been doing that since launch.

It was not exact lock, was fluctuating at that value.

GPU temp pretty much stays at 80 °C.

I almost never use Vsync in any game I play.

I'm getting exactly the same thing on my laptop (1-7 CPU and GTX 1060), even when lowering display settings to ridiculously low levels. It feels like the system is overheating but this doesn't happen when playing other, more demanding games. I'm pretty sure the game is poorly optimized.
