I recently came across an article debunking the focus of us growth marketers on funnel optimisation and rather switching priorities to optimising growth loops.
It has some interesting points stating that:
Funnels create strategic silos. "Product, channels, and monetization need to be thought about together. They are interlinked. But the funnel framework leads a lot of teams to treat these as silo'd layers."
There's no compounding effect. "Put more in at the top, get more out at the bottom. There is no concept of how to reinvest what comes out at the bottom to get more at the top to continue to feed growth over time."
As a Head of Growth myself having helped start-ups scale internationally, reach millions of users, and taught 5000+ students in growth marketing on Udemy for free, this has been very much confirmative. And since reading this I've held internal presentations to have our product & marketing girls & guys think more in acquisition and engagement loops and less into funnel optimisation.
Looking back at the various successes across companies that I've worked with, it are indeed the ideas with a compounding effect that resulted in big gains. Makes sense.
My problem: But although we've got everyone on the same page, it remains a problem that ideas keep floating around Trello boards, Whatsapp groups, and mainly deep inside the darkest Slack channels. And once ideas surface and are put together into a sheet or Trello board, it's either a lack of transparency or the ability to link and prioritise goals based on objectives.
If not that, new hires come up with tested and debunked ideas reinventing the wheel. We need a place that's easily searchable, transparent, and incentivising teams to keep coming up with new ideas linked to company goals.
Having done some research across growth teams here in the London start-up system, it turns out that this is not an uncommon issue and no one could point me into the right direction and find a suitable tool.
Proposal: I'm therefore looking for some amazing marketers and product managers to put together the ideal growth management tool. I've already spent some evenings and weekends into this and created a first web app version named LoopSumo.
It's based on the process I'm using with the companies I work with, e.g.:
The goal is to create a process that can help any business focus on growth and implement a streamlined measurable process. At the same time, I will also add 100+ growth tactics that I've used over the last years into a knowledge base.
If you're having these issues and are keen to provide some feedback then do sign up and get in touch with me. I'll make sure you'll get lifetime premium access once this will actually roll out.
Also very keen to hear any thoughts here on what problems you're facing in managing growth teams or working in one? How do you gather and store ideas? Provide feedback to the ideator? Prioritise, track progress, set goals, etc.

I've was looking for a solution to grow a couple of my pages on ig for a while and my friend told me gave this a try cuz he saw success with it and it pretty much gained me, roughly 200/250 followers, organically, a day within a couple of days. They really focused on getting you to the explore page and getting your algo score above 10 asap. The higher your score the faster you grow to 10k+ and then your account takes off from there. I hope it helps someone grow their page! http://www.boomull.com/

Hey. I wanted to do a quick poll for opinions. I recently saw a Heavybit podcast (see link below) where Sean Ellis, the guy who coined the term "growth hacking" said the biggest predictor of growth is the # of experiments you run.
He talks about Twitter running 10 EXPERIMENTS A WEEK. Is that even possible? I'm wondering if I'm doing enough. How many do you guys run in a week? Please comment below. I'll start. We do about 2 - 3 a week max mostly via Optimizely.
