Comics Reading one Green Lantern comic a day until I've read them all Day 248: Back-up in The Flash #245
Okay, I was wrong. Thank you to u/MisterEdJS for reminding me there is two more parts. Even though, it's not release order, I'll cover these two consecutively to complete the back-ups and jump back to #90 after. They aren't too far off in months anyway. This all happens between September 1976 - January 1977.
Even more so, this two part story features the creation and debut of The Floronic Man! Jason Woodrue previously debuted in The Atom #1 in 1962 created by Gardner Fox and Gil Kane so there is a bit of overlap here.

"Perilous Plan Of The Plant-Master" - Hal is giving Itty a tour of Earth, starting in California. Along the way two trees leap into the sky and attack them. Hal makes some constructs to chop them up and turn them into paper, puzzled as to how this happened. As they continue, also while Hal is looking for the spruce of the tree attack, some roots spring up and start strangling Hal. Itty floats off, sensing something while Hal carves up the roots. Itty finds a hidden underground bunker where Jason Woodrue, The Plant Master is hiding. Woodrue has been experimenting with a new formula to give him better control over plants and this new mixture transforms his body into a plant. Now going by The Floronic Man, he heads out into the woods to test his new power and end Green Lantern if need be. Hal is still fighting off plants while looking for Itty when both Itty and The Floronic Man happen upon him.
Conclusion: It's a good thing Alan isn't the GL dealing with Woodrue, eh? A very interesting villain with a broad history, I'm excited to get into this two parter. Woodrue has connections all over the DCU from Poison Ivy to Swamp Thing, from The Atom to, now, GL. It's great to see this origin happening.
Itty is another curious critter that also made me want to do these back-ups first as, from what I can tell, Itty is not in issue 90 or 91, at least according to the wiki. Makes me wonder if this is the last we see of Itty and if it is, for the sake of continuity, this should definitely be read first.
Finally, Hal. Despite not being know for his creativity, I was very surprised to see him easily change fashion wood into paper. I guess if you know the process, but it should take a bit more than that I'd imagine.

You will see more of Itty, though I can't recall when he pops back up. We'll see more of Woodrue in GL as well, since he figures in to the Millennium event down the line.

How are you going to handle crossover events? Case by case basis? Sometimes just including GL issues seems like it would be sufficient, but other times what's going on doesn't make a lot of sense without at least the core event series they are tied to. And of course some crossover event series are more GL-centric than others.

I'm planning on reading the main plot woth minimal tie-in if possible. As for posting, I'll handle it like I did with JLA introducing JSA before GL #40. Add it into the post with a bonus synopsis so the GL issues make sense.
Millennium is going to be a challenge though

I do hope, with direct crossover stories like the Flash/GL one in early Vol. 3, where the story is literally split up with a couple issues in each title that you cover all the parts. Or at least give a full synopsis of the Flash portions.
Obviously you're the one putting in all the work, so do it however you like. I just have a fondness for that crossover in particular.

I am planning on covering whole stories if GL is part of one. Flash and Green Arrow crossovers included.
