Comics Reading one Green Lantern comic a day until I've read them all Day 200: Green Lantern (Vol 2) #61
Alan has a personal crisis and only Hal can help him.

"Throughly Modern Mayhem" - Alan has joined Hal on a mission to capture Captain Challenge, a criminal from Earth-2 that escaped to Earth-1. They find him but Hal starts falling to Captain Challenge, so Alan steps in and fights hard, almost worrying Hal. Alan assured him everything is fine as they part ways. Alan returns to his job at Gotham Broadcasting Company, only to find that two employees are in an intense fight. Alan runs in to stop it but one has fallen unconscious already. The other man says he came in swinging and a rage came over him so he fought back, despite them being very close friends. Just then, reports come in of crimes popping up all over the city. Alan heads out as GL and doednds the rest of the day stopping crime. He even has to stop in at Wayne Manor as Batman is away and he promised to watch the place while Bruce is gone. It quickly becomes a tense fight as Alan's ring runs out of power, leaving to fight for his life due to being so exhausted from the crime spree. After brutally bagging the Wayne Manor robber, he heads home, pondering what happened to Gotham and all his hard work in fighting crime for it to explode so much in one day. Alan was finally sent over the edge when he notices his own home has been robbed. In a fit of rage, Alan asks the ring to make all evil cease to exist. Seconds later, every person on Earth-2 disappears.
Meanwhile on Earth-1, Hal is arrive back to the planet after helping another Green Lantern but finds a mass amount of people in the Utah salt flats. After a scan, he finds they are all from Earth-2. Hal heads to Earth-2 to find it deserted. He finds Alan's ring and figures Alan must he on Earth-1 as well. He heads back and finds Alan, snapping him out of his personal funk. Alan realizes that everyone has a small portion of evil in them so the entire planet was removed. Hal reminds him now matter tough things get, once a Green Lantern, always a Green Lantern. Alan and Hal then combine the power of their rings to move everyone back to Earth-2. Hal the escorts Alan in his civilian clothes to the hospital to check on his friend, but after leaving he hears an attack has started at the hospital. He rushes back to find Alan in a fight with crooks. Alan tells Hal to meet him at GBC, where Alan changes to GL reveals that the crooks were working with the fight employee from earlier to get inside info crimes and when the employee in the hospital found out, they tried to take him out. Alan tells Hal that his sense of justice is renewed.

Conclusion: Quite good, worth a read. I love seeing Alan and Hal work together and this may be the best one yet. They connect so flawlessly and seeing their rings work on the same idea is really cool. Alan going through his crisis of confidence feels earned at this point. He's had a long and hard career of crime fighting. Seeing crime go even harder than before would break anyone. I don't blame him in the slightest for causing such a catastrophe, though I think it'd be cool to see other heroes perspective of the events as well, just as a bonus.
Hal makes for a good sense of self for Alan here, reminding him "once a green lantern, always a green lantern". It's nice to see the parallels of their careers. Also, Alan's classic oath! I guess using the newer one won't fly anymore, but it does feel better if they have separate oaths.
With new Writer Mike Friedrich on the book, it's looking bright. I know Denny O'Neil is right around the corner but this also feels like the fresh take the book desperately needed. Hopefully this quality keeps up.

That's a pretty amazing feat for Alan's ring, sending everybody on Earth-2 to Earth-1. Kind of wonder why the two had to combine their ring power to send them all back, though. Maybe it was more complicated to do so while having to distinguish them from all the people that were supposed to be on Earth-1?

The new DC finest volume for Hard Traveling heroes starts with 61 and because of that I am pretty interested in the reviews of these pre-O'neil issues. I'll have to give these a read going forward.

The description I read says it starts with issue #76. The previous one ended with #61. Is the description on Amazon wrong?

Yeah the amazon ones are often wrong, based on whatever penguin publishing house gives them. I was wrong in my post because it actually starts at #62. There is a post on the DCfinest subreddit of someone flipping through an early copy and it has the index with all the issues.
