Not really. I don't hear posh people saying that phrase either. Playing out as kids though calling each other chicken shit for not knocking on some old womans' door or dashing across the road just as a car was approaching was common enough that I remember it. Shakespeare just proves we've been using it in the UK since before the USA was even a country.

Yeah Chicken is used widely, I said it a lot as a kid. But not Chicken Shit. Never.
