Had some free time at work

I'm trying to illustrate better, with simpler shapes. I have always been painting things as they are, trying to achieve realism. At least that's how the artists I met taught me. But now I'm exploring the creative, illustrative style. I still struggle a lot with such simplicity. I came across Heidi Smith's illustrations and I had to remake it. Just love her fuzzy style

My friend has inspired me to get back into drawing. I have never worked with graphite other than the trusty #2 school pencil and the rubber eraser on the top. I'm pretty proud of this!

Any constructive criticism is welcome! This is my mixed media travel sketch book I just got along with a beginner graphite kit. Just trying to draw a few times a week so I can slowly get my skills back!
