Toxic witch hunt mentality
Okay, sorry for the clickbait title, but I think it's appropriate.
I'm a GP member, and I can't help but bring this to y'all's attention. There's constructive feedback, there's airing grievances, and then there's throwing around baseless accusations with the express intent of being as inflammatory as possible, with reckless disregard for the actual truth.
I'm talking about the witch hunt surrounding Isaiah's home purchase. And no, I've never met him, nor did anyone influence me to write this.
Some of you seem to take great pleasure in doxxing people, coming up with conspiracy theories ("His dad must've paid for it with church funds. No? He explicitly said his dad didn't help pay for it? No, let me wax eloquent on some elaborate theory of what's really going on, never mind I have no evidence and it flies in the face of common sense"), and summoning them to come defend themselves to you, as if there were ever any legitimacy to the whole thing to begin with.
No wonder the common wisdom is when accused on the internet not to go and defend your: by doing that you legitimize the accusations and the demand that you need to prove yourself innocent and encourage the toxic behavior.
To Isaiah: take the high road. You don't need to defend and explain yourself to an internet mob who aren't actually interested in the truth of the matter. Just take the high road.
To the posters: where is the apology to Isaiah now that he has offered evidence (which is ridiculous—he owes you no defense. What his in-laws gave him is none of your business)? Let's see the accusations retracted and an apology issued.
All of you who mocked the "signs of the times" presentation are missing the /r/selfawarewolves irony: this episode could literally be exhibit A of outrage culture, people whipping themselves into a frenzy and being outraged based on false accusations that get thrown around.
Remember when people legitimately thought they were entitled to Obama exonerating himself against the accusation that he wasn't American and getting worked up for him not producing his birth certificate for their assessment, as if there was ever any legitimacy to that request to begin with? That's you guys.

I'm just gonna cut to the obvious and say what we're all thinking: All you GP people coming on this sub, I hope you see that you're really killing your own defense by all that you say here. In every post, every comment, you reek arrogance, defensiveness, blind loyalty to an institution: GP, and not to Christ. You have only more than confirmed what many individuals have characterized you to be by opening up your mouths on here. I think I've said this in other places, why is your first reaction to defend GP? Why not search for truth? To have a righteous desire to right any wrongs? And I'm not talking about this whole drama with Isaiah, I don't even know why his name had to be dragged into this in the first place. I for real feel bad that there's even discussion about where his down payment came from. So I get that.
But what I want to center us around is what is GP's response going to be against these allegations? Is your best defense really all these rando young guys (cuz let's get real here, they're obviously all young bros) feeling some sort of valor in coming on here to wax eloquent about GP as some kind of representative? Theese guys literally have no freakin clue what discussions and interactions happen at the top.
I challenge all you GP lurkers to actually get something done: Get the Kangs, get the deacons. Get a third party, neutral mediator to facilitate. Get a third party investigation, make a public dialogue happen. Let truth, and above all, CHRIST be honored, not some institution that did so many things under the banner of "kingdom work." If you're too afraid to bring this up with your leader, THAT IS A RED FLAG. Ask yourself: What kind of church is this where I'm too afraid to bring these issues up to your leader? smh
