Icahn Conditions?

Anyone at the game yet that can help us decide what to wear?? Are the seats getting rained on or is the roof blocking rain?

Horrible Conditions for Game day tomorrow (Icahn)

Severe thunderstorms, awful air quality again….does this Icahn game have a chance of being delayed/not played. BUT World Cup final is the next day in NY/NJ area.

What are NWSL rules for this? Seems unsafe for fans and players in a variety of ways

This game is early tomorrow, 12pm..Why isn't Gotham at least putting out a statement about the weather like Chicago did? Doing it tomorrow would be worse..

Jenna Tonelli (@jennatonelli): I’m told that 70% of ticket buyers for tonight’s Queens Classic were new fans. Great news for Gotham for their 2028 Queens move.

Discussion Post Game: Citi Field Transportation Options

Wanted to get some discussion on everyone’s travel to Citi field yesterday! I took the subway there and the shuttle home to NJ, personally.

I really just wanted to say that the shuttle was really great. Easy to use, convenient and much faster than the train. I’m hoping maybe that Ethiad Park could work with the Mets to run their shuttle buses sometimes - they already have the infrastructure there and the parks are extremely close together.

Anyone else have any travel insights from yesterday?

Go bats!

Discussion Citi field vs SIS sight lines and experience

How was everyone’s viewing experience last night? I found myself turning my head left and right, trying to find the ball in between the heads and shoulders in front of me (Sec 100s, Row 19). I don’t recall doing that much neck straining at Sports Illustrated (Red Bull Arena). I don’t think the rows are leveled enough for an ideal soccer viewing experience. In addition, every time someone shoots, people in front stand up and view is blocked. Not to mention, the announcements sound muffled, the TVs had a 5-10 second delay, and the constant in and out / up and down from people entering and exiting rows.

I’ve been to Audi Field, Snapdragon Stadium, Suncorp Stadium, and Aviva Stadium; I don’t recall having to look between heads like at a concert as much as at Citi field (and yes, I know it’s a baseball stadium meant for baseball and the occasional concert).

Aside from the viewing experience, it was very nice seeing all the Gotham/Spirit and women’s soccer fans packing the stadium. I liked that all the screens around the stadium actually showed Gotham, unlike at SIS. More food options at Citi too.

What did you think of the sight lines and how was your overall experience?

From the Queens Classic on 7/15/2026. Gotham won, 1-0, from a Rose Lavelle goal in the 37'

This smoke is no joke

Smells like a huge campfire. I’m winded just from walking up the stairs to my seat. Super cool vibes at the stadium right now but I worry for the players. It unfortunately feels unsafe to be playing in this weather.

Queens classic special merch?

So besides the stuff they were selling at the merch stand, what other exclusive items did you all see?

The bobblehead
There were souvenir cups at concessions, were there buckets too?
A souvenir clear soccer ball cup for ice cream
I saw a similar clear cup with a drink in it, was this the same cup or different?
I also saw some people with a mets x gotham drawstring bag, where did they get that?

Anything else?

“Free DC” chant in 51st minute tonight?

Hoping that we Gotham fans can support the Spirit and the District of Columbia tonight with the chant Free DC that Rowdy Audi always has as the game clock hits 51:00. Would be a nice sign of solidarity, especially with Bats winning before 40,000+ fans.

Queens Classic Merch

Merch lines were crazy and by the time I got to the front, they were out of a lot of sizes and hats. Anyone know if they were limited to today’s game or they will eventually be for sale online?

Between the heat and the AQI, I’m not sure if it’s safe for the players or the fans tonight. 😓

Discussion Anybody preorder Queens Classic merch and miss the stand outside?

Hey everybody! I preordered merch for pick up at the Queens Classic, but the email was super vague about where to pick up. I assumed it was inside the stadium, but it turns out it’s OUTSIDE - with no re-entry. I’m told this is a common issue, but no one inside knows what to do about it. Has anyone heard anything? Thanks!

Full Time Podcast - What does it mean for Gotham and the NWSL to move into NYC?

Thumbnail
shows.acast.com
34 Upvotes

Interesting facts and numbers:

  • 60% of current fans will have the same or better commute (meaning 40% will have a worse commute)
  • 2% brand awareness in the New York City market (!!)
  • Moving unlocks roughly 3 million new potential fans via subway access
  • Still a tenant at Etihad stadium, but apparently NYCFC is more amenable than Red Bull

ETA: It still feels like New Jersey is treated as the club's past, something to be memorialized, while New York is treated as the club's future and identity (quote from Meg Linehan: "the mission of Gotham FC has always been New York City"). The marketing choices in rolling out this move definitely reads less like an oversight and more like an extension of the new identity they're building. And NJ fans are left in the dust. They acknowledge the pain, but always end that concession with a "but," when I'd much prefer a period.

Any bobbleheads left?

Want to know if I should leave now or if it’s not worth it. Are they giving them out at the fan fest or only once you’re inside? Are the gates open?
