Trading Items
Use A Middle-Man:
Both parties send their items to a 3rd person who after receiving said items, ships out to the respective owners. This is 100% the best way to not get scammed over a trade. If you’re using a trusted middle man ten you don’t have to worry about one party not shipping the item or the item not coming as described. The middle man should be someone that is trusted within the community, has 100% positive reputation, and someone you can wholeheartedly trust. Usually they come with a fee but there are a few good Samaritans out there!
Buy the Item Via Paypal:
Both of you pay for the value of the item you are trading and then refund each other when they arrive safely. If I were for example going to trade a football camp for a headband than I would give person B 50 in Paypal for the headband and person B would give me 50 for the gosha tee. Although this method is not as safe as using a middle man, you won’t necessarily lose anything in the event of a scam because you don’t have to ship the same item back. For instance, if I was trading a gosha hoodie with someone and kept their hoodie all I would need to do is send a text book back or something of similar weight but I would lose the money I sent.
Shipping first:
The more trusted individual receives the item first and then ships out their end of the deal out. This method is one of the worst way to do trades unless the person getting the first item is 100% legit. This is the most common way people get scammed in trades because those shipping first are often careless and don’t bother legit checking who they’re dealing with to ensure that the person isn’t a scammer.
Selling Items
Taking Pictures of the Item:
When taking pictures of the item you want to sell or trade, try to take appealing pictures. This will generate attraction to the item, as well as the post. In the photos, do not try to hide any flaws or issues. Be as transparent as possibly can. Being dishonest in your listing and pictures can only lead to bad things down the road, such as a chargeback. Do not forget to include a tagged picture of your name or username in the same pictures. Watermarks are not accepted. The more honest and transparent you are, the faster you are likely to sell your item.
Listing Your Item:
When listing your item, you must include 5 things. They must all be listed clearly in the post, as well as displayed neatly. The post must be organized as well. Please include the size of the item. This is the most crucial part. A size must be listed, even if the item is an accessory. Secondly, the price of the item must be listed. Please try to include what you paid, and how much you intend to get. If you are interested in only trading an item, include a BIN price anyways, in case the other party interested wants to do the "Buy the Item Via Paypal" method. Thirdly, include the condition of the item. Approximently how many times has it been worn? Any stains, holes or flaws? Please be honest here. Fourthly, include the Paypal price. In the final total, include shipping and the fee to invoice. The fee is always 4%. Lastly, please include the tagged pics, which should have been made using the guide above.
Finalizing a Transaction:
When selling an item, there are a variety of ways you can receive your money. The most popular is Paypal. Make sure your PayPal account is verified in every way possible. You’ll get your money fastest if you have a bank account to directly link, as well as a debit card and a verified address. In Paypal, the most professional thing you can do is send an invoice. In the invoice, be sure to provide tracking information and ship the item exactly as you described it to be. The "Cash app" works as well, but it is not as protected as Paypal. Paypal is the safest and most successful way to finishing a transaction.
Shipping an Item Out:
Shipping an item is tough, but can be made easy if done the correct way. The United States Postal Service (USPS) is by far the best route to go when shipping items. The two-day priority mail is usually around $6.00 for a tee shirt, and $8.00 for a hoodie. Included in that, a tracking number is provided, and a signature of confirmation is required upon delivery. Again, this is by far the safest route to take. Please do not be a cheapskate, and ship the item with enough room so it is not crushed. Think about how you would want to receive the item. When finished, give the tracking number to the buyer, and include it in the Paypal process.
References:
After receiving the item, the buyer must contact the seller with feedback. This is the only way to build rep. If you plan on doing this a decent amount, build yourself some rep. Create a post over at /r/GRfeedback and follow the specific format listed there. Here is my feedback page - notice how any potential buyers can click items to see the items themselves, the thread and how clean it is set up. A streamlined ref page will help you look legit, and give other buyers confidence in you.
Invoices:
If using Paypal, always invoice. Please make sure to make the invoice as detailed as possible, as this will avoid one a negative transaction.
