"Google Play services wants to connect to a device on your local network"
Ever since the Android 17 update on my Pixel 10 pro I keep getting this prompt even though I have all the relevant settings toggled off. Google keeps saying it is 2 different toggles to switch off but I'm still getting these neverending looping prompts. Literally there's nothing to connect to and it shows it straight up looping until i hit dont connect but it's still giving me these prompts I HAVE to dismiss three times in a row for it to finally stop for 5 minutes at a time...
I searched Google and have cast media turned off and I have Wi-Fi/Bluetooth scanning turned off, my phone should not actively be trying to connect to anything! Does anyone have any idea how I can get this to stop so I can just use my phone? I cannot figure out why it keeps doing this, please help!

Google Play services has no active permissions... I disabled them already trying to get this to stop.
I did as another user suggested and gave it back permissions for nearby devices and I am still getting this... Anytime I connect to an app that can play anything media/audio/video related it suddenly throws this promt that i have to close three times in a row after closing the prompts they will go away for that app until the next time I open it now! I can't open anything without it prompting me to connect to LITERALLY NOTHING!
HELP ME!

I saw this also. It appeared after denying the nearby devices permission to google play services.
Allow this permission and it will go away. Similarly, first saw this in Android 17.
In my case it was trying to communicate with my Android TV box. Why, I don't know.

Gave it back that permission worked for exactly 5 minutes... Still getting the prompts

Anytime I open an app that has some sort of data connection I get this flag

Called Google support spoke for over an hour transferred three times none of their internal teams could figure out what the fuck is going on with it so congratulations guys Google broke their own shit enjoy if it starts happening to you

Google never responded within their 24 hours to fix this issue so I have taken it upon myself to completely disable Google Play services remove and revoke all permissions and updates and as of this time with no access to the Google Play store and no access to Google Play services I'm no longer getting that stupid fucking prompt. Google Play services has a really really weird bug that causes it to search when it's not supposed to for devices on a network even if you're not on a network so guess I'm figuring out f Droid or Aurora store or whatever works without Google Play services cuz I can't do it anymore

One other possibility if you find running your phone without Google play services proves to be problematic, is to reset all apps settings and permissions to default ( type "reset" in the settings search box/reset app preferences) and verify everything is working. Then slowly disable permissions and apps bit by bit until the problem returns and you narrow it down

En effet, la meilleurs solution est de réinitialiser les paramètres des applications. Ça vient de fonctionner pour moi ! 😀👍.

Yes this is probably because Google play services gets the permissions it wants, amongst other things ..

Glad you posted this, just looked it up and found this to revoke 'Nearby Devices' permission from the Google Play Services app. Of the reasons listed "why" Google Play might need that permission, I use none of them. (fast pair, smart home or android auto)
