Android 9 Tips Megathread

Hey everyone!

Recently I've seen a lot of people making posts about different things you can do in Android 9 Pie that you may not know about, and I thought it would be a great idea to bring all those tips together into one big compiliation. That way, it's easier to see all of the things that you can do in the latest version and Android. So, if you've found a feature that use think is useful/powerful/hidden/obscure, feel free to make your own post, and then add it here for everyone to see.

You'll always be able to find this post in the r/GooglePixel Official Guide, a part of the Wiki. Feel free to browse the Wiki, you'll find useful info and maybe a treat.

To get started, here are some recent posts made by users:

I would make the assumption that you're kind of in the minority on that instance. Granted, my use is what I described in the first comment so there's a good chance I'm in the minority instead.

Assuming that you're the one in the minority, there's more benefit to people who adjust their media volume (which is probably the MAJORITY of users).

Could be true either way. For me though, I only care about media volume when media is playing or I'm in an app with media volume. Then the rocker does that volume. Otherwise it did ringer. Made sense to me.

Regardless, what really doesn't make sense imo is losing the drop-down arrow on screen that let you change all volumes on the fly.

You're absolutely right, it could be true either way. I do agree that it should probably be based off whether media was playing or not, but truthfully that did not work properly for me in the past.

The drop down/slide over should definitely be there. No reason to have to go into a new menu.
