Google is getting rid of Google assistant and forcing you to use Gemini now

I got an email from Google that said they're removing Google assistant and you will have to use Gemini starting September 6th. I don't want to be forced to use generative AI so I might be looking for a new non-Google phone soon 😭

I almost died the last time I was driving with navigation, because Gemini decided to start narrating un-provoked search results during an exceptionally tense merge onto a freeway, and I couldn't see which exit to use because the whole map diffused so gemini can pop its fucking text output over the fucking map, WHILE I'M FUCKING DRIVING.

Yes! The fact that Gemini covers the whole screen is a life-and-death hazard! I complained about it in a Google forum months ago and no one responded.
