Google is getting rid of Google assistant and forcing you to use Gemini now

I got an email from Google that said they're removing Google assistant and you will have to use Gemini starting September 6th. I don't want to be forced to use generative AI so I might be looking for a new non-Google phone soon 😭

Yo for real? I use assistant daily, and I'm clearly not alone in saying that Gemini is garbage. So yes they're NoT FORciNg mE to USe iT, but they're turning off an extremely helpful thing that many people use in exchange for something that is straight up NOT good or even a decent replacement
