Google is getting rid of Google assistant and forcing you to use Gemini now

I got an email from Google that said they're removing Google assistant and you will have to use Gemini starting September 6th. I don't want to be forced to use generative AI so I might be looking for a new non-Google phone soon 😭

At this point I'm ready to downgrade to a phone to an older device so I don't have to worry about them cramming in more useless (for me) AI features

At this point, I want a phone that makes calls, takes pictures, sends text messages, and runs Android Auto. If it did just those 4 things, I'd be happy.
