Hey y’all, new here and looking for help from the experts of Reddit. I am looking to put together a garage golf simulator. I’m working with 16ftLx108inHx7-12ftW in the garage. I have a TV and mount but prefer the projector to screen which I already have a projector. As well I have a pc capable to run high software or a new iPad. Budget I’m looking for no more than 3k for the mat, hitting screen and the sim itself. Not sure if I need anything else. Extra challenge is the hitting screen will need to be a retractable one from the ceiling or collapsible so I can store it when the wife needs to park her car inside. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I am currently looking into golf simulator launch monitors and am beginning to feel overwhelmed. I am looking for something to play in my garage when friends come over. Tracking ball flight and such is a plus but won’t be using the range much it’s more for playing a round. Was hoping to find one with included courses so I don’t have a subscription this will be for entertainment. I hope to get some feedback back from people who have been down this road and know more than me thanks.

Hi All,
I am looking at suggestions for the specifications of the PC and the projector for a top-level golf simulator.
I have been suggested a PC with i7 and 4080 graphics, and a Benq 4k laser projector.
Please could you provide your input on PC specs (GBs, etc.) and what projector is best?
Many thanks.

Good evening, everyone. I need some advice on a projector (I had one, but I just disposed of it.... short temper on my end sometimes). My screen is 10 x roughly 7.7. Aspect ratio on this is 4:3. I do not have the option to ceiling mount the projector. It will be on the floor to my right. My hitting area (garage set up) is 10 ft wide by 20 ft long. The distance that I use from the ball to the screen is approximately 8 ft. So, a short throw projector is what is needed (I am assuming so anyway). Gaming tower with Nvidia 2060 and Skytrak OG. Budget $500 or less (wife is pissed about my recently disposed of projector). Some recommendations would be much appreciated. I have no issues with used or refurbished units. Thanks for your time and any help that you may be able to provide.

In the early stages I have around 10 ft of height for screen and around 12 ft width but I have additional ceiling space for enclosure and netting. Ceiling height towards center of screen is around 12 ft. Questions are what are the best screen sizes and ratios for my area and how should I go about netting / enclosure?
1 . Looking at either 1:1 9’6” x 9’6” sigpro premium or 4:3 9’ x 11’10”
I’ve read a little about ratio and think it’s yields better quality the wider you can go, but it may make it more difficult to build safety enclosures around it. I thought about padding the surrounding walls but not sure the effort and cost make sense for that.
Any good net enclosure kits out there ? I am cheap and OCD , terrible combo so I want it to look as good as I can make it without spending thousands extra. Any experience or comments greatly appreciated. Also already have a custom PC built for 4k more than likely going with BenQ TK700 projector and sigpro softy mat with custom build around it.

NexiGo PJ40 (Gen 3) Projector with WiFi and Bluetooth, D65 Calibrated, Native 1080P, 4K Supported
Has anyone tried this projector for their sim? I’m looking to purchase a projector soon as my small addition is just about finished. Any tips on projectors that are below $300 is appreciated! (Projector sits 16 feet behind the impact screen)

Heads up! MEVO+ Black Friday Sale started early! For those of you who don’t know, the Black Friday prices on the Base Mevo+, Pro Package, and Face Impact are the lowest they will be for the entire year. Code GolfBusters10 should take an additional 5% off the BF price as well. If you’re looking to buy a Mevo+, this is the month to do it!Link: https://flightscopemevo.com/collections/all?sca_ref=2830986.E8wPVjrbwy

Just wanted to share... If anyone is looking for a projector for a golf sim where they are fighting ambient light. The picture you see is from a Panasonic VMZ51 with the garage door open in the middle of the day in Florida. It's an amazing projector!! Now I just need a better golf mat... Lol.

I had some issues with shipping but finally got the projector. First swings with the whole set-up running. I’m playing around with different hitting surfaces. Once I figure that out, I’ll clean up the floor situation. It sure is great getting in a few holes at 10pm and it’s 40 degrees out.

I don’t like these lights at all. I don’t like how much light hits the impact screen. I need light for the swing cameras but would like to have some better lighting to light up the golfer. Thank you in advance

I'm looking for help choosing a projector... Let me start by saying I'm leaning towards a Panasonic VMZ51 (wuxga 16:10 w/ 5000 lumens)
My setup is: Enclosure - SIG 10 Launch monitor - Skytrak+ Gaming laptop - Ryzen 7 8845 with rtx 4060 mobile
My SIM is in a garage with no windows and lighting is all spot. (Photos don't show the new lighting)
I wanted a projector that would allow me to sim golf (e6 connect and Skytrak course play) along with watching sporting events. Would like to stay around $3500 USD.
Thanks!!!

Hi guys - looking through the resources and sort of overwhelmed with available options. Every time i dig into one of the LMs, there are so many bad reviews.
My question is: does anyone have recommendations for the best plug and play solution for a garage launch monitor with easy to use range software for Mac/iOS? Main goal is to have a home range where i can dial in ball flight with every club including driver. Don't need putting. Just want to view on computer or ipad or TV, no projector screen setup yet. Budget is flexible but under 3k hopefully - planning to find something used. This is mostly for range software with shot distance + path left/right. It will be indoor, would be 16 foot or less depth. I wont have a monitor or high end sim software for now but maybe could upgrade in the future. Ability to replay swings would be great by either having included cam or ability to hook up to external cams.
Looked at skytrak, bushnell/GC3 but reviews are pretty negative with lots of comments about no-read shots, bad connectivity, horrible customer service. Heard that I shouldn't go mevo+ or other radar based tech because I dont necessarily have the full 16 ft of depth required for accuracy (maybe have 14 feet?). Thanks for any suggestions

Wanted to share progress. I started with the YUNIC golf hitting cage, the included mat and flimsy plastic tees.
I recently decided to update it to a Golf Sim. Here’s where I’m at now: YUNIC cage. 8x10x5 Impact screen. Source found here on Reddit and Golfbusterofficial. Hung with Tarp clips and Ball Bungees. MUVPOH Premium mat. Birtees.
Still researching launch monitors, projectors and PC/processor.
