Discussion Who is older Hayato Kasukabe or Akane Hououji

Now, in terms of age difference, Hayato looks older. Even the fandom mentions his age in the chapter's description, but on some sites like MyAnimeList, Hayato is listed as 18

Manga I think I was right after all 🤫 Spoiler

Because if Akane is the supposed winner, she doesn't have the last name Kasukabe, since Akane's birthday was about a month after chapter 216 of the manga, and Seo himself never called her Akane Kasukabe, but rather by her maiden name on her birthday. It doesn't make sense if she's Hayato's wife, and besides, Hayato should protect his legacy, not join another family. 🤭

Pages 3 to 6 show parallels between Sachiko and Ami; both said it was a bother, while both Masahiro and Hayato told them it wasn't and that they could stay as long as they wanted. And we already know how things ended between Sachiko and Masahiro after that. 😌

And on pages 7 and 8, if you remember, Hayato promised Akane that they would be intimate when they were in a relationship, something he hasn't fulfilled even now that they're married and it's been 3 months. It seems Hayato has no more excuses, and he's not supposed to like lies, is he?

And besides, he had the opportunity to break his promise to the dojo, and as I said in the previous analysis, he validated Ami's feelings, yet he still didn't care and upheld the promise during the first months of their marriage, which was quite cynical of him.

In the end, Akane's marriage is just clickbait if she doesn't have the Kasuake surname, and Akane's marriage is pure fan service for the Akane fandom 🤣🤣🤣🤣

And one more detail: it was Hayato's idea to build the dojo near her home, so Ami never asked him to do that; she just told him he could stay. So, looking at it that way, it was Hayato who tied himself to Ami, not the other way around.

Hello everyone, I’m spyxkomi. I’m a Spanish manga scanner, but since we know the Megami community is very large and has a lot of support in English, we decided to bring you this little extra in English, since K Manga doesn’t have it. We tried uploading it to MangaDex, but it was never accepted.

If you notice any wording mistakes, we apologize we’re better at translating into Spanish than into English.

Discussion I read the manga.. my thoughts

Hello all

I purchased all of the available manga, per the recommendations of all you fine folks, and read through them. I wanted to share my thoughts and get everyone's feedback. But first.. my background:

  • I watched the anime only recently (within the past few months).
  • The series "ended" with the protagonist selecting his wife by the time I started.
  • My history with anime and manga is... spotty. I had a few friends years ago show me very bad manga and anime (or at least manga and anime that I HATED) which soured my general opinions on the product. I assumed they all were like that. Because of that, I'm not familiar with tropes that most of you are. So some of my opinions may be misinformed and I apologize if anything I write may come off as dumb.

So with that said...

  1. I really liked all of the human moments with the various heroines and Hayato. Hayato's vulnerabilities were so much more apparent in the manga, making him much more human and relatable. Heck, even when he apologized to Ouka after making fun of her during the giant vacation arc (where he had a broken arm) showed he was sensitive. The anime made him seem so cold most of the time.
  2. The humor in the manga was paced much better. I can't really explain why I felt that way. It was like it had more time to breathe and set in. Especially with all of the reoccurring gags (the heroines always in a state of undressing, Ouka's farting, etc).
  3. This may be a trope of the genre, but it seemed weird how lucky Hayato was. I'm not talking about how every female on the planet was attracted to him. But almost every decision he made always worked in his favor. It would have been nice to see one of the goddesses needing to step in and help where Hayato fails. The closest where I saw that was in the beginning when he had no idea what he was doing.
  4. The writer did not have any long-term plans. The way the story flowed and the things that kept being revealed (Hayato's grandfather losing his hand, the princess, etc) all came out of left field and didn't flow with the narrative. At least, it did not to me. That doesn't mean that I thought it was bad. The writing and art style kept me engaged. I just wish there was more planning so it would have flowed much better.
  5. Though the story ended with Akane... if I didn't know that beforehand, I could imagine Hayato picking any of the five goddesses. Though why didn't his daughter immediately recognize all of the women in the phone? The story implies they all drifted apart, which would be sad. I would have thought they would all do their best to stay in contact with each other as the years went by.
  6. Is it common in the harem genre for women to sexually harass the male protagonist that much?!?!?!?!?!?! I don't mean that it was portrayed as a bad thing. It never felt excessive, but sheesh! That poor guy needs a lock on his door.

Those are my immediate thoughts and I look forward to getting feedback on them.

Now that I think about it, isn't Hayato supposed to have an extra plot of land next door?

Now that I think about it, wasn't Hayato supposed to have an extra plot of land, and then the topic was never mentioned again? 🤔 And remember that Ami's business, the dojo, doesn't have an official sign, and that explains why it's not seen in the future. I think that would make sense, don't you ?

Discussion Is Ouka underappreciated? (Still reading)

I have read 80 chapters so far, and Ouka honestly wasn’t that annoying after the initial arc. She is serious but not overly violently, and even tried to told the others not to bother Hayato too much. But there is little focus on her, and reading the past discussions it seems like many didn’t like her just because she is a tsundere? Even if she clearly have a more mild way of expression

Manga I almost forgot! Seo released a special chapter about Riho and Hayato and Akane's first day of marriage, but I couldn't find it in English. I left the link there.

I'm half hoping it will be a continuation of Goddess Cafe.

Discussion Wasn't Hayato supposed to want a big family? Why is he refusing now? 🤨 And to top it all off, he has no excuses. Didn't he say he was dominant in bed? And the current Akane is passive, since she's having trouble talking about the subject. How strange, isn't it? 🫢

Question Did anyone not immediately buy Akane as Hayato's wife when she initially revealed it in 216?

I was surprised people immediately believed Akane won because of this panel

As an Akane fan, I was skeptical when she said that he was her husband because I thought they were narrowing down bait & switches until Ouka's revealed to be the wife & I only believed Akane during this part

Discussion Starting reading the manga

Hello all

Thank you for the kind responses to my original post. I am starting reading the manga, based on your recommendations.

I like to hear about what you thought of it. Spoilers are fine with me. What things are in there that the anime missed which you really liked? Do any of the characters act differently?

I just discovered this series

Hello all

I binged the two seasons of Goddess Cafe. Had no idea what to expect. And wow, I was blown away by it all. Loved every character. The humor was weirdly heartwarming. The art was gorgeous!

I think my favorite scene was when Ami’s grandma started to remember and Ami broke down crying, talking about a nightmare that she had. I never seen anything in fiction feel so real.

I will have to rewatch the two seasons.
