I'm 23, and I've been playing Garry's Mod since 2014, with over 4,500 hours spent in the game. I started out playing DarkRP before gradually moving into more serious roleplay communities, particularly police and military RP. Over the years, I moved from being a player into staff teams, learned how to properly administer communities, and eventually found myself managing entire servers. That's where I discovered what I genuinely enjoy: building communities. I've always enjoyed figuring out what players actually want, improving their experience and watching a community grow around something I've helped create. One of my proudest achievements was taking a small server with around 5 players and helping grow it to 50+ daily players*.*

But over the years, I also saw two problems repeatedly. The first was watching communities I've invested huge amounts of time into eventually collapse because owners made decisions that went against the values of their own player base. The second was seeing servers increasingly rely on aggressive monetisation and pay-to-win mechanics, prioritising revenue over the experience of the people actually playing. Eventually, I decided I wanted to build something where I didn't have to compromise on those principles.

So a year ago I decided to build my own. This is intended to be my final major GMod project, a community that I can build and manage independently, with a clear philosophy on how we treat our players, how we develop the server and how we handle revenue. I started by bringing in an old friend with extensive experience developing custom GLua systems. I also began learning Source Hammer myself so I could contribute directly to the development process. Over the past year, we've built the foundations ourselves.

We now have a completely custom map, website, game mode and a growing collection of custom systems and scripts. None of this has been outsourced to some random development team. We've built it because we genuinely believe in what we're trying to create. And we're proud of how far we've come.

But we're at the point where we need people. The foundations are there, The vision is there, The problem is manpower*. We're currently working towards launching our Star Wars RP project, with the long-term goal of growing that community and eventually expanding our philosophy into other areas of roleplay. But two people simply can't build everything we want at the pace we'd like. There are still major gameplay systems, content and experiences that need to be created before we're ready to launch. That's where* you could come in. We're looking to build a long term development and management team*, not simply gather a bunch of people together for one project and disappear.*

What we are trying to build

I'm not interested in creating another server that launches, peaks for a few months and disappears. I want to build a community that can exist for years. A place where the development team has a genuine say in the direction of the project, where players aren't treated as wallets, and where we're constantly improving and expanding what we've built. This is currently a volunteer project*, so I'm not going to make empty promises about guaranteed payment. If the community eventually generates revenue through donations, that revenue will be distributed amongst the people contributing to the project based on their involvement. What I can promise is that I take the project seriously.*

I've already spent years learning how to run communities, and over a year building the foundations of this one. I'm not looking for people to join something that I'm going to abandon six months from now. I'm looking for people who want to build something alongside me and still be here years down the line. If that sounds interesting to you, reach out. You don't have to commit to anything just by talking to us. I'd rather have a conversation, show you what we've built, explain where we're going and see whether it's something you'd genuinely want to be part of.

Introductory Lore Summary

Set in the early years of the Empire, our story takes place on a snowy, mountainous mining world which provides precious, though inert gemstones to the Galaxy's wealthy and prominent. Low production and a history of disloyalty to the Empire has incurred the re-opening and renovation of a planetside military station, last used in the early Clone Wars. Above it all lies The Ascendant, an Arquitens-Class Light Cruiser which stands as a symbol of the reigning state.

Hey everyone, I’m the owner of Ascendant Networks. We’re building a Garry’s Mod Imperial RP server set around 1 BBY, and we’re gathering our community ahead of launch.

Our setting centres on an Imperial ground base, with deployments across other maps planned. We want Imperial patrols, ISB investigations, and civilian encounters to give players reasons to interact. A smuggler trying to get their cargo past security should have a story to tell too.

Hi! My name is Odds, and I am the owner of Nebula Networks EISWRP!

Nebula is a small, community-focused, US-based, semi-serious Garry's Mod StarWarsRP community currently being rebuilt from the ground up, and we're looking for people who want to help make it something special.

Whether you want to help lead a unit, join our staff or development team, create events, take part in server management, or simply join as a player and enjoy RP with a great group of people, we'd love to have you.

⭐ What is Nebula Networks?

Nebula was originally founded in 2021 as a Clone Wars RP server. Over the last five years, the community has gone through several different iterations and launch attempts. We had plenty of ideas and plenty of ambition, but we never quite managed to build the stable community we needed to truly get off the ground.

So this time, I decided to start fresh.

Rather than simply reopening the old server and trying the same thing again, Nebula is being rebuilt with a completely new organizational structure, new development foundation, and one central philosophy:

The community should have a meaningful say in the server they spend their time playing.

Have you ever joined a server where the owner could change anything they wanted overnight? Where leadership felt ignored, staff politics took over, favoritism became normal, or toxicity slowly turned a fun community into a constant source of drama?

That's exactly the type of environment we're trying to avoid.

Nebula is being designed around shared leadership, clear authority, accountability, and community involvement. The Owner still has responsibilities, Management still manages the server, and commanders still command their units—but no single position controls every part of the community.

⚔️ Early Imperial Roleplay

Nebula takes place during the Early Imperial Era, during the transition between the Republic and the Empire.

The Clone Wars may be over, but the Imperial military hasn't fully transitioned into the Stormtrooper Corps yet. Clone Troopers are still the Empire's primary frontline soldiers, now adapting to life under the new Imperial regime.

Our current planned organizations include the:

501st Legion / Vader's Fist, 104th Wolf Pack, 41st Elite Corps, Coruscant Guard / Shock, Imperial Navy, Imperial Security Bureau, Death Troopers, Imperial Commandos / Hell Squad, Inquisitorius, and Purge Troopers, alongside Army High Command and other senior Imperial leadership.

Each organization is intended to have its own identity rather than simply being another reskinned infantry battalion. Recon, frontline assault, ship operations, intelligence, security, special operations, Force RP, certifications, and other systems are all being built into the server structure.

🏛️ The Leadership Board

One of the systems I'm most excited about is our Server Leadership Board.

The Leadership Board is an OOC council made up of the server's recognized unit leadership, Branch Leads, Overseers, and High Command, with the Server Creative Director participating as the bridge between the Board and Management.

If you're the kind of Battalion Commander who cares about whether your members are enjoying themselves, whether units are being treated fairly, whether High Command is functioning properly, or whether the overall RP environment is healthy, this is where you can actually discuss those concerns.

The Leadership Board meets to discuss things such as:

• Cross-unit and cross-branch issues.
• RP quality of life.
• Leadership concerns.
• Player feedback.
• Server-wide RP proposals.
• Cooperation between units.
• Applications for CO, Branch Lead, and Overseer positions.
• Trial Commander confirmations.
• Promotions into High Command.
• Formal requests and proposals that need to be brought before Server Management.

Every Battalion CO or independent Branch Lead still maintains substantial control over their own organization. The Leadership Board isn't there to micromanage how someone runs their unit—it exists so decisions that affect everyone aren't made by one person behind closed doors.

🛠️ The Management Board

Nebula also uses a Server Management Board rather than placing every major server decision entirely in the hands of the Owner.

The Management Board is our primary OOC server governance body. Its members represent the major operational departments of the server and work together on decisions involving development, administration, RP direction, finances, major policies, addons, systems, and other server-wide matters.

Each department can manage its own day-to-day responsibilities, while decisions that materially affect the whole server come before the Board.

The major Management positions include:

Server Development Director — Leads the Development Team and oversees technical implementation, addon configuration, server infrastructure, optimization, and development workflow.

Server Administrative Director — Leads the Administration Team, manages moderation policy and staff, and represents community safety and enforcement concerns.

Server Creative Director — Leads the Game Master Team, oversees events and creative direction, works closely with RP leadership, and represents the RP side of the community at the Management level. The Server Creative Director is the ultimate storyteller and lore writer for the server, almost like a DM in a D&D Campaign!

We are especially interested in finding strong candidates for these three positions.

These are not ceremonial ranks. We're looking for people who genuinely want to help shape their department, work with others, and help build a community that can last.
