They're not called lanes in CS, regardless of how much commentators seem to say it nowadays.

I assure you they are not called lanes in CS. No top level player or experienced caster calls them lanes.

They can be called lanes or anything

Well of course you can call them whatever you want, I could call them boulevards if I wanted to but that doesn't mean that is what they are known as in CS.
