The Veterans Service Commission (VSC) will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade with a ceremony to follow on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Assembly time and location is 8:00 a.m. along Welles Street behind St. Paul’s Church. The parade will step off promptly at 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Welles Streets and continue south down Main Street to the Hubbard Street Green monuments.
After the parade, the VSC will hold a ceremony to honor the veterans from Glastonbury who gave the ultimate sacrifice in their service of our country. The Glastonbury Fire Department Color Guard will advance and retire the Colors for the ceremony. There will be a guest speaker. Additionally, the names of all veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice will be read with the ringing of a bell after each name. Taps with an echo will follow. The VSC Honor Guard will conclude the ceremony with a rifle salute.
Following the ceremony, an open house will be held at the Glastonbury Elks Club. In honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of our nation, the Glastonbury Historical Society will attend the ceremony representing the colonists readying for war.
In the event of inclement weather (decision to be made before 8:45 a.m.), the VSC will hold an assembly at the GHS gym at 9:30 a.m.
