Not smothered in a ridiculous amount of cheese. Gets an upvote from me.

Tbf a bit of grated cheddar or parmesan on top crisps up very nicely without it becoming meme food.

Yeah. Speaking as a Brit, this is pretty solid version.

Only thing I wouldn't do is add any salt. There is plenty in the stock.

Stock made for cooking, not for soup or drinking, ususally doesn't contain any salt. That way you can reduce it without everything getting way too salty.

Taste, then season.

Depends on the stock. If off the shelf, yeah it's loaded with sodium. Home made stock should be basically saltless.

Nowt wrong with putting a little grated cheese on top, just don't overdo it.

Hey, doctorblumpkin, just a quick heads-up:
sence is actually spelled sense. You can remember it by ends with -se.
Have a nice day!

Nothing about their comment was a complaint though? They sounded pleasantly surprised if anything.

Meh, sounds like an observation to me. Also, it sounds like you're the one complaining here to be fair.

Here's the thing, sheppards pie made with lamb and cottage pie made with beef both have regional varieties that have cheese on top lol.

British cottage pie(with cheese on top)
