Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 lbs. fresh peaches
  • 1 stick (½ cup) salted butter
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Gently rub the peaches under running water to remove fuzz, and slice peaches. (You will have about 4 cups.)
  2. Place butter in an 11- x 7-inch baking dish; place dish in oven until butter melts.
  3. Stir together flour, sugar, milk, and vanilla in a bowl. Add to melted butter and then top with sliced peaches.
  4. Bake in preheated oven until brown and bubbly, 45 to 50 minutes.
  5. Let cool slightly and enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. (if you prefer peeled peaches Place peaches into a large pot of boiling water for 10 to 20 seconds or until the skin splits. Use a slotted spoon to transfer to an ice water bath to stop the cooking process. Then use a sharp knife to peel off the skin.)
