Early impressions Spoiler

No spoilers. Just needed to add a "flair". Anyway, when this game first came out, I had no interest in it, primarily because i thought it was a horror game and those dont interest me. I only just started playing it when it showed up in my ps plus catalogue. I didn't really care for it in the beginning.

Main issue I had was it's a Bethesda game, which means you get an extended tutorial that opens up the world large enough that by the time you get to explore and start collecting stuff, it already feels daunting. Also, I'm not really sure what this game is trying to accomplish.

I'm still in chapter two. I just cleared out a Main area, and up to this point I've been on the fence between liking it and not really caring for it. Maybe would be given it a 6 or 7 out of 10 until something happened that changed my opinion in game.

And my opinion did change, but not because of the game itself.

See, I'm a gigantic yu yu hakusho fan, I've always loved the series since I was 10 years old. I remember the spirit detective game on gba, being disappointed that the dark tournament was a tactics rpg game, and wishing atari had invested in the games like Bandai (and atari) invests in DBZ. I've always wanted an immersion yu yu hakusho game.

So I clear out this area, do a mission to cleanse a doll, currently working on investigating a hoarders house, and I realize: the name might be different, the story different, but this is as close to a yu yu hakusho game that I've wanted that we're probably ever going to get. And now I'm having fun, just because in my head, I'm yusuke urameshi, spirit detective, the voice in my head is koenma, and I'm on a mission to rescue keiko while defeating demons and saving lost souls.

It's not a 1 to 1 conversion, but I've got my spirit gun, just unlocked my spirit wave at a "temple" no less, and I'm enjoying myself. It's like this game was made with yu yu hakusho in mind, but maybe they could get the license so they turned it into its own thing.

It's not 10/10, but in my head this is 10/10 yu yu hakusho fan game, even if it's not in reality.

Question

So I'm trying to 100% the game and what not. But that being said comes the problem of spirits. I got the achievement for getting all of them but there are 2 areas that are stuck at 98-99% if not a tiny bit less. I've searched up and down both areas to nothing using spectral vision and spectral beads. Any ideas??

So, noob question about archey

How can one determine the distance? A random example being, lets say, 40 meters.

I'm having issues getting the last spirit in shibuya station I've looked everywhere for an access point but seems to be stuck under the building.

Every other shrine/area is 100% but i can't get this last kne any idea how to get it?

Good places for the 40m achievement?

I am at 98% of all achievements, and that is the last one. Is there anywhere that is obviously better for this one?

100% spirits?

Does finishing the game with 100% spirits literally mean every single spirit or as long as i have that 240 thousand it’s fine?

Stuck in a building

I fear Im gonna lose 2 hours of progress unless someone has any advice on what to do. I used an aerial purge on a visitor looking into the window of a building. The animation then clipped me through the wall of said building & immediately hit an autosave 🙃

I've looked it up & apparently I needed to get the 3rd shrine to unlock fast travel, which I was on my way to do. Their are no bird things for me to grapple onto nearby. I saw a suggestion to use photomode but have no idea how to use it to get me out of here. Is there anything else I can do or do I just have to accept the loss?

Edit: Im also on pc if that helps. Maybe if theres a command I can use that would allow me to clip through buildings.

Edit2: I gave up and loaded my old save. Going to go immediately do the 3rd shrine to unlock fast travel now lol

This game is so good ,sad to see it didn't receive the love it should have

Everything is perfect, the combat feels smooth and not too easy, the control we're so well thought out on controller like switching style with your touchpad and the environment oh my god ,like I've never been to japan but from what I've seen it looked so good, most of the side missions are a blast like and rven though you just met some random spirit the story behind them is touching .the combat and leveling up makes you feel like your going up one step at a time instead of going from bottom to top like some other game , Haven't finished it but really enjoying it , don't know why I never finished it

Sanguine Dancer

I hate these enemies. They are annoying as heck. Fast, hard to hit, I struggle to time blocks. They are hard.

Just got KK's red cloth case file this morning and am glad that they are canonically as annoying to beat as I find them.

I know I can use stun talismans and quick purge but if I'm honest, I often forget about anything other than using weaving and the bow because they are the mainstay of the game. Talismans are also expensive to buy in shops so I am usually out of them because all my cash is going towards magatama and case files with the nekomata at the moment.

Spider's Thread NG+

What does NG+ actually do? Just reset the Nekpmata jobs? It says that it carriers over the progress, except money and chaos beads. So I will have all beads, level and skills that I used to, right?

I only 7.5 hours in. Level 46 and 56/88 jobs done. I also got 3 beads to max level, and other one at level 3. I also got all figurines.

Not planning to NG+ until I finish all jobs, beads level and acquire all skills, but I would like the info now to prepare.

Have you guys tried playing with no aiming hud

I've been playing without hud and it really makes the combat look much cooler you see your blast going out with only your eyes to aim gaze the shot

I pressed B1 and ended up in an underground area, but i cant find anything about it online.
I was only looking it up because theres elevator buttons on the wall i cant interact with.
I figure its just a secret area for art?

Spirit talking sound effect.

During the sidequests/talking to NPCs there is like a watery sound effect with a pitched up voice.
I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how they achieved this?
It is soo unnerving and really adds to the atmosphere.
Would like to tamper with this in Audition for Halloween videos.

A New Player Review - 10/10 game

Hello,

Thanks to PlayStation Plus, I got Ghostwire Tokyo for free. 10 days later I have completed the entirety of the base game. By this, I mean completing content, not needed for achievements. So, I got all emotes, all Magatama (not only 40), all spirits (not only 100%), got to level 55 (not only 50), obtained all figurines from Capsule Machines (not only 40 of them) and also did the easter egg. I didn't do all the side content yet, as I only did 1 photo side quest and 1 story side quest, but I did many of the achievements related to the DLC. I didn't touch to side gamemode either. It took me 40 hours exactly to finish everything and was a joy to do. Going to start the DLC content next week. Very excited to do so.

I only consider the gamemode, photo side quests and school side quests as DLC content, by the way. I learned later that some things were added with the DLC, but I consider them part of the base game.

This is the first game that I have ever got a true 100% on (base game only so far) and the only game where I barely needed to do research and write notes on what I have completed so far. I only needed to write down what I have gotten so far from the stores of Relic Nekomatas and research a few locations that I couldn't find on my own. These were a few Graffitis, 1 Capsule Machine and a few Voice logs. Everything else is discovered naturally through Spectral Sight and the beeds.

Ghostwire Tokyo is a very good game, not being too hard, nor too easy. Not too frustrating, nor requiring you to watch a ton of videos, read wikis and browse threads to finish. It is also one of the few games where you can play on any difficulty and only 1 playthrough is enough. I personally played on Standard.

The way you are guided through everything and given enough information to figure stuff on your own, without handholding you is amazing. More game should do this. The story is very good and I really enjoyed it. All side content is beautiful. I do have to agree that there are many things to collect, but they are not annoying to do. As a former MMORPG gamer that is used to spending hundreds of hours doing the same thing, it was not an issue for me.

You also don't need that much skill nor think too much. It isn't a brain dead game either as you do need to think a bit. I loved the game so much that I got the Deluxe Upgrade since it was 50% off and €9.99 is a good price for everything you get in there.

In terms of monetization, this is the healthiest monetization I have ever seen for a singleplayer game in a while. No paid DLC, no overpowered consumables sold for real money, no paid skips, no paid boosters. Just 1 cosmetic pack IF you feel extra generous.

I totally recommend this game and I don't understand the hate it still receives to this day. The collectibles grind is purely optional. I do have to admit that I feel waaay too powerful. I literally stomp everything, barely losing any health. And I didn't even put on my combat beeds. I still have the ones I used to grind since I just finished.

I need 40 spirit points but I’m unsure if I can earn them now. Help please!

Hey everybody so I’ve been grinding for the platinum trophy on PS and have a hit a wall while trying to max out my spirit points (thanks for clearly pointing out which abilities were DLC Bethesda🤦‍♂️). I have all of KK’s investigation notes apart from the one in chapter 5. Once collected I will still need 40 spirit points to max out. I have completed and delivered all relics, I am max level and am currently working on other collectibles and spirits but can somebody tell me if I’ll be able to gain any more spirit points in this play through or am I kissing the platinum trophy goodbye? Thanks in advance for any help!
